Progress will happen, the loom did similar. Imagine mining machines put all kinds of pickaxe workers out of the job.Pointless having freedom of movement if you're in favour of robots taking jobs
You'd have to be pretty lacking in intelligence to not see there's going to be a detrimental impact on lower paid workers
Absolutely this!Progress will happen, the loom did similar. Imagine mining machines put all kinds of pickaxe workers out of the job.
I don't want to queue at a checkout just so cashiers can exist.
The problems that will be generated by humans will be in deprived or problem areas. Can you honestly imagine these being left untouched in South Bank, Grangetown, Thorntree, Hemlington, Grove Hill or any of the other problem estates on Teesside?Love this. The future is here. Funny as well, how when we talk abbout likley probems with them, all the porblems are generated by humans?
I grew up in Grangetown and I've always been an early riser so I used to get up early on a Sunday morning when I was about 12 or 13 this will of been late 90s before the internet really took off I would and go get the paper(possibly the Sunday Sun) and the CCTV cameras would follow me as I walked to the shop and back(that was before they changed the cameras and had them covered so you couldn't see which way they where facing). The problems that will be generated by humans will be in deprived or problem areas. They may have recording devices on them, but all of the areas above have cameras recording 24/7 and crime is still high. The novelty might wear off at some point but if they think they can get easy pickings, they will take them.
Yeah, and that's sad is't it? People complain about the machines taking over but the humans are the main problems. The problems that will be generated by humans will be in deprived or problem areas. The sad part is we still have deprived areas that have been underfunded and left to decay for years. I would worry more about that than some machine being tampered with.Yeah, and that's sad is't it? People complain about the machines taking over but the humans are the main problems.
Deprivation is the single biggest factor in crime. The sad part is we still have deprived areas that have been underfunded and left to decay for years. I would worry more about that than some machine being tampered with.
We have certainly created an 'us and them' society.
That is sad, I agree. But being poor isn't an excuse for mindless vandalism. Believe it or not, you can be upset that the gap between the haves and the have nots is growing AND be upset that people are engaged in mindless acts of vandalismThe sad part is we still have deprived areas that have been underfunded and left to decay for years. I totally agree, but as mentioned by another poster, the two seem to go hand in hand. That is sad, I agree. But being poor isn't an excuse for mindless vandalism. Good points. And with regards to the shoplifting, that's no surprise at all. If you have nothing you do what you have to do to survive. People shouldn't have to shoplift to feed themselves but it's not their fault at all.I totally agree, but as mentioned by another poster, the two seem to go hand in hand.
When I worked with the ghost kids (NEETs) this was one of our biggest challenges. Whilst they were out of school they were left to god and providence, roaming the streets, shoplifting for food and getting up to mindless vandalism in the local area. These kids would have had one of the robots away just for the fun of it and to see what was inside it.
the punishment epically if you already have a criminal record makes it very profitable, a lad me and my friends used to hang out with before we found out what he was really like was in the gazette and still out of jail after over 160 past offences the article said lolGood points. Thats a different issue. The police don't have the numbers to investigate serious crime, never mind low level crime.the punishment epically if you already have a criminal record makes it very profitable, a lad me and my friends used to hang out with before we found out what he was really like was in the gazette and still out of jail after over 160 past offences the article said lol
police are not interested as well when is low level shop lifting, my local tesco told me they have to be caught with evidence and held at the store for the police to even turn up, so only looking for the easy offences or the people who are massive problems around the whole town.
If they experience problems then I imagine they won't get used in those areas. Realistically they're limited in range. The fact they've been going for several years shows they obviously work and they know what they're doing. The problems that will be generated by humans will be in deprived or problem areas. Well the PCC had that while stealing from Tesco thing leading to a caution and despite running on a ticket of getting rough on crime said it was a learning experience for him lol. Where's the lesson? Steal and end up in a 100k a year job?the punishment epically if you already have a criminal record makes it very profitable, a lad me and my friends used to hang out with before we found out what he was really like was in the gazette and still out of jail after over 160 past offences the article said lol

I am not saying they won't work and I am sure they can bring something to the table (no pun intended) and look forward to being given the opportunity to use them. Regarding problem areas, common sense says you wouldn't send them to certain post codes, etc.If they experience problems then I imagine they won't get used in those areas.
