The Ripper

Watched this over Xmas.

was struck by the utter incompetence of the police throughout. And at the press conference when they announced they had caught Sutcliffe the main protagonists all walk in with grins the size of Cheshire cats. Appalling insensitivity.

never knew les battersby found one of the bodies as a young labourer. No wonder he struggled with drink in later life that would be enough to **** anyone over.

What it didn’t show in the series was that he was treated as a suspect and interviewed several times.

Thought both documentaries were good, didn't realise until watching them he'd been finally caught a couple of miles from my house.

Not at all but demanding that they be allowed out without a chaperone and living their life as normal was ludicrous. Nothing was stopping them from doing it but the Ripper won't be watching your demands and stop killing because you expect it.

The police were horrendous though and their attitude towards prostitutes was beyond belief, almost as though they deserved it.
It seems odd but their point was ( I think) why not put a curfew on men? As though by having a chaperone or not going out, has solved the problem, they were highlighting the obvious chauvenism ( spl) of the average middle aged bloke at the time.

He found Jean Jordan. Sutcliffe had tried to cut her head off with a piece of glass. You're never going to recover from seeing something like that.

I think it’s unlikely that a serial killer such as the ripper will ever been seen in the Uk due to advances in forensics, the number of CCTV cameras, mobile phones and ANPR.

Makes my stomach turn this pic . What the f### is Frank thinking of ? I can understand Savile because nobody ‘officially’ knew but Frank who says he was tricked . B2EDA125-1B2A-4AC4-812E-7B71A475D437.jpeg

Watched it over a couple of nights between Xmas and new year. I remember it from my childhood. Would have been about 10 when they caught him.

And thank you for your concern but i think I’d be more depressed spending three hours watching julie Andrews to be fair.

My mams side of the family are Sutcliffes and lived in Stockton (No relation), during the period when Sutcliffe was named they had numerous threats that their house on Vicarage Avenue was going to be burnt down with all of them in it as revenge.

( Probably same family that ) my sister told me she knew a Teesside lady who at the time was married to a fella also called Sutcliffe who had the beard and everything Like him . Apparently they nearly had to move away .
