There has been a lot of discussion about this subject on Twitter over the last month or so.
Lefty, have you read Cormack Lawton’s piece on Charter Cities?
Charter Cities: The Real Reason for Brexit and the Bigger Picture
With our economy in tatters and the frightening roll back of our democratic rights now beginning to expose the true nature of Brexit, some…medium.com
That was the first article on this that was brought to my attention a few weeks ago.
nothing good for the average person has ever come out of Tufton St, if charter cities happen, I'm gonna move New Zealand seems a bit more sane now that they sort that issue out about the OrcsThey have a UK address though apparently.
55 Tufton Street.
And this site are seemingly doing their best to provide some valuable background.
The Baker Street Herald

Don’t know if you remember, BoroMart that a few years ago some very wealthy people started buying houses and land in New Zealand. It was thought by some that it would be the prefect place to survive what was coming??
Even with the Orcs
I saw this too. Flights from Teesside to Jersey up by over 1,000%!!Read this- absolutely eye opening.
That's right Ziggy, I posted a link to the original article which was from a few years ago.Don’t know if you remember, BoroMart that a few years ago some very wealthy people started buying houses and land in New Zealand. Surely you just buy him the Independent and tell him you refuse to allow his views to be distorted by those whose only interest is their own?I intend to, as I like to be informed, but not a lot of time and I do baulk at buying anything by these people. It's hard enough buying The Daily Mail most days for my dad.

I think Peel Holdings, are somehow associated with this Charter City business in the North West too. I know they used to own Teesside Airport, imagine they still do. Oh, and there's this:Its about destroying accountability. Look at how much money and decisions Houchen is taking away from scrutiny. If the rules don't help you get rich, then it will be much easier to change the rules if you are operating in an area that isn't even a 'local authority' any more, just a jurisdiction under the T&Cs of a corporate contract. It's how places like Salford Media City get to make rules that clamp down on certain people entering the area - because the land is owned and managed by Peel Holdings.
Both the options, Leave and Remain, were heavily backed by two sides of the same coin. Billionaires run the world. Some want Brexit, some don't. There are dodgy people on both sides. YOu don't get to be a billionaire without being unethical along the way.Baker Street Herald have been talking about this for at least two years now.
Charter Cities is something that was mentioned in the book Sovereign Individual. Ultra right libertarians want to see the end of the Welfare State and see leaving the EU as the only way to make that happen.
I personally don't think Brexit is a direct consequence of what the Baker Street Herald claim, but it's a part of it. There's evidence from the early 90's that the likes of Murdoch wanted Britain to leave the EU. Him and others like him had zero influence in Brussels and didn't like it.
There's then the huge amounts of money hidden away in Offshore Tax Havens as previously identified by the Panama Papers. It's no coincidence that many behind Brexit are also very rich and don't want their wealth to be identified as they're happy to avoid tax. The EU wanting to expose Offshore Tax Havens spooked the very rich avoiding tax.
Many voting leave were conned into thinking the EU was against them. In reality it's a Social Democratic institution committed to acting in the best interests of all Europeans. Much like much of the European governments in fact. All expect Tory Britain of course.
If people in this country don't wake up to the evidence in front of them, then things go quickly move against the vast majority. If you think austerity was bad, this will be worse as the State is cut all the way back and you're left on your own.
There was only one side of rich people lying and it wasn’t those who wanted to remain. It was only rich people wanting leave who used social media to create myths and then used code to target people they knew would fall for the lie. Both the options, Leave and Remain, were heavily backed by two sides of the same coin. Billionaires run the world. Some want Brexit, some don't. There are dodgy people on both sides. YOu don't get to be a billionaire without being unethical along the way.
Let's not pretend the EU stops tax avoidance (or evasion), prevents billionaires from amassing ridiculous wealth, prevents companies from exploiting workers or prevents companies from moving profits to tax havens. All the ills we have in the UK were there before Brexit. Being in the EU wasn't some utopia.
Brexit might have individuals that would gain while Remain has the global corporations. The EU is set up to provide cheap labour which benefits shareholders. It's not to benefit the workers. Some of the rights etc are to guarantee the well-being of the workforce which benefits businesses. There's nothing stopping us having those same protections in the UK, we just have to vote for the right party and demand that we keep/improve our rights (which are over and above the EU minimum in many cases anyway).
Good god, you’ll be saying MP’s are all the same on a Johnson thread next. Both the options, Leave and Remain, were heavily backed by two sides of the same coin. Billionaires run the world.
