The pressure is (largely) off today

Due to our horrendous start to the season we’ve been playing catch up ever since but now with 20 pts on the board ( an unthinkable number a few weeks ago) and sat in 9th place only 2 pts of Leeds (in 3rd spot), the pressure is largely off us today.

I think this will be reflected in the crowd as well today as fear and anxiety give way to expectation and expressing ourselves.

Hopefully with the emotional shackles off we can go out today keep to the plan and grab another 3 pts.

Hackney is a miss but barlasser has shown vast improvement of late and should relish this more central attacking role alongside howson.

Unfortunately with form comes unrealistic expectation that we win every game. The pressure will always be there until the seasons over, then be replaced with pressure of who we sign.

I understand the sentiment, but as we saw last season when on a good run we need to keep it going. Form can drop off a cliff pretty quickly. Win is important today, as our next home game is a tough one and we have two trips to the South West in between.

Carrick is brilliant at taking the pressure off the players.

The players will no doubt put pressure on themselves to varying degrees, but it won't come from the manager. He lives the mantra of one game at time and not getting too down after a defeat or too carried away after a victory.

Today will be absolutely no different in approach to any other game this season.

Carrick said he's fine, so I think he'll be in the squad, but his social media account posted the same on Tuesday and he didn't even travel down because of illness.
That might be as a precaution though to not make others Ill esp in such a long journey and over night stop.

Home games are lot easier I’d assume.

Oh, I get why he didn't travel down, it's just that whoever's running Latte Lath's social media account posted a graphic like the one above on Tuesday even though he was clearly never in the matchday squad.

Dunno about the players but as a fan I feel the pressure more when we are doing well, worry that we will drop important points whereas when we are struggling I just accept we are ***** and a win would be a bonus, l know just a weirdo 🙂
I know exactly what you mean. When you're challenging at the top it feels like you have to win every single game. A loss or even a draw can seem devastating.
That Karanka play off season was unbelievable in the final weeks. Us, Bournemouth, Watford & Norwich seemingly winning every week. Any dropped points could see you fall from 1st to 4th. I couldn’t cope.

I know That Brighton game was unreal wasn’t it

It's a funny one.

We've put ourselves in a position where one result no longer feels like doomsday, but I just want us to keep climbing the table now.

We're not going to keep winning forever, but I'm desperate for us to win today.
