The Next President of The USA

Who will be the next president of the USA?

  • Harris

    Votes: 117 59.1%
  • Trump

    Votes: 81 40.9%

  • Total voters
    198
  • Poll closed .
My daughter who knows a bit more about US politics than myself, spent time online with friends both here and America last night. Her US friends are devastated with the result. Her old post grad visiting tutor turned up online in the chat offering some thoughts. That new voters grew up with Trump as the norm and also there was a blurring in the pandemic when he “gave out cheques” Also, particularly indicative of disenfranchised young men too.
The other question asked “Will Americans ever vote a female president in?
On your last point, I don't think the US is anti a female president, I just think that both Hillary Clinton and Harris didn’t come across as presidential enough.

The biggest problem for Harris was that she seemed to think she could win because she wasn’t Trump and she had a lot of celebrity endorsements.

Where was the vision and the policy?
Cardi B, George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger , Whoopie Goldberg, Robert De- Niro, Jennifer Lopez , Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey, Bruce Springsteen, Ariane Grande, Anne Hatthaway, Jennifer Lawrence you took one hell of a beating !

I could also add 20 or so names from here who are only " Celebrities " on FMTTM so I wont bother, especially as I never comment on Politics.

Personally I don’t think she campaigned that badly. Trump wasn’t able to land one slogan on her and he backed out of a second debate because she wiped the floor with him in the first one.

But whilst gender may have been an issue for some I believe racism was the unredeeming feature of why he got back in. Mass Deportation hit home on a population emboldened by billionaire backed platforms.

Haven't more black males turned out for Trump than Harris though?

I tend to agree with you, to some extent. Although it’s not my point it was brought up in a group discussion with people online, mainly grads and post grads here and in the states that my daughter was part of.

She has my sympathies, it must be a difficult day for young progressive American women.

Trump won the presidency, won the popular vote, his doting candidates won the Senate, his doting candidates won the House
Trump is 100 per cent what more than half of U S voters want
That's the truth of it! Might not be hugely palatable for many in the US, UK or on here but there's no doubting he has a mandate
