The mythical Middlesbrough Urban Legends thread is here!

Used to know a lass called Charlene who used to use dog food in a certain way

Wonder if it was the same way as Dawn, my imagination is running wild

I bought a copy of the book in Guisborough bookshop from Rob. There was a long haired feller there as well, but can’t remember his name. Was he from another message board? Steve Goldby or something like that???

I showed my dad the posts about ICI as he had worked there from the late 50s to the early 90s and he reckons they were mostly, erm, Urban Myths.

Steve Goldby yes.
ICI myths. Well, it was Teesside Urban Legends wasn't it?
But the story of the plant that had to be encased in concrete and buried was confirmed to us by someone that worked close by and is a very reliable witness. He even pointed out its position. But yes they were all legends but were they also purely mythical or not?

I remember that story about Terry Scott doing the rounds at the time (2003 ?) and apparently he did indeed do that, and his car landed in the safety cage ,saving it from plunging into the Tees. The story continued that TS went and knocked on someone’s door in Port Clarence and said “I’m Terry Scott and I’ve just driven my car off the Transporter” and the reply was “well f off Terry Scott ,I never did like your programme “.

Yes, he was appearing at the Forum at the time. Amazing mistake to make.

Probably brilliant publicity for his show at Billingham Forum - front page of the Gazette,
For anyone of a certain age - can you resist drawing a speech bubble in your mind on that Terry Scott photo saying JUNE!!!
