The Most Annoying Bits in Songs

Never liked the talking bit by Paul in The Beatles "Day in the Life". Always put me off the song. I know that won't be very popular.

The line 'Another day, Bobby, for you to come, home' in PJ Harvey's 'Let England Shake' is very jarring.
It doesn't irritate me as such, just that it seems to ruin the flow of the song.

Dood so agree.

I have two other songs that trigger me :
- The Par-par-par-par-pa-pa noise at the start of that bloody awful Shania Twain song "Man, I Feel like a Woman" .....beloved of hen nights and dancers-around-handbags it makes me want to tear my ears off.
- The feeble ting ting of xylophone at the start of "Seven Years Old" by Lukas Graham. I absolutely loathe that record and just that particular sound has me diving for the off switch of the radio.

A bit off beam, but I'm a big fan of Alan Parsons. There is a huge catalogue of songs that are spoiled by his change in musical direction half way through a track. Those who know, know exactly what I mean.

Thijs van Leers yodelling is brilliant imho on live at the rainbow. The saxaphone in Honky Tonk Woman destroys a good song.

I love The Style Council, but how Weller manages to rhyme "not" with "carrot" on Walls Come Tumbling Down really annoys me....

Those who have and who have not -
Those who are with and those who are without
And dangle jobs like a donkey's carrot -

I tend to listen to melodies and music more than lyrics.

I'm glad someone else has said that, I thought I was the only one. I can't understand what they're singing about at the best of times. For me it's the rhythm, melody and harmony and how it all fits together.

I prefer instros to songs. People say 'ooh but listen to the lyrics' but my ears just don't work that way.
