The Linny

They know that the punters will pay. Itll probably be chaos on Saturday.

Of course they have had to reorganise to allow the drinkers in. All costs money.

It’s all sammy smith pubs. Can’t believe people will pay £3+ for a pint of taddy. It’s disgusting. People use them because their cheap (well were) £4.20 for a cider. Most places sell cack like strong bow for £2

Obviously Weatherspoons prices don't count, but it's irritating how consistently the breweries raise the prices.

5-10p increase every year.

My first pint was 9p . Never had alcohol in the house prior to lock down. Enjoyed sitting in the garden with a nice cold one recently. Won't be going near a pub for some time especially with those risies..

I remember winning the early flyer in the Beechwood and Easterside Club one Friday night, an the lads were saying they wouldnt buy another pint if it went above 35p!
One bloke used to say if petrol ever got to 50p a gallon [no litres in them days] he`d scrap his Datsun Cherry and buy a motorbike.

Oh for those rosey memories....if only I knew than what I know now;)(y)

The pubs are in a difficult situation. they need to charge too much to be viable. It's an impossible balancing act I reckon :cautious:

I don't tend to blame the pubs, most will have to up their prices as forced by the breweries increasing theirs.

I don't think this specific situation in the OP is justifiable though, especially not if it's permanent.

Yes I think The first pint I had was about 75p. Like you i'm happy having a drink in the house/garden niw.

Never thought i'd say that.

Here (finland) it's on average €5 a pint (1/2 litre), and it has been since i came here back in 2014. You know, you just get used to it if you want to go to the pub. The ass clenching stops after a while. If you dont fancy paying over the odds stay at home and drink in your garden or yard, or whatever.

It was my local for a while and I've had some good laughs in there but Sam Smith's beer is and always has been terrible.

Can't believe it's cash only though! 😳

Pre lockdown £5+ was the norm for me and even £6 was becoming more widespread. Not sure what prices are going to be like after lockdown but I don't intend going to the pub for a while yet.
