The Last of Us TV Show

I disagree it’s been a bit of a slow burner for me with a lot of opportunities missed when it comes to the story. Bills town, Henry and the university of eastern Colorado could have been so so much better.

I don't think Bill living in a town full of infected made much sense in the game, personally.
It was just a daft excuse to let you fight lots of them whilst progessing the story.

Completely disagree on Henry, I thought they handled that absolutely brilliantly and the decision to make him deaf really added to it.

Don't really understand what was different about the university bit for you?

They went to the university, found the Fireflies had moved on and were attacked by raiders, Joel gets seriously injured, just like in the game.

It's actually going to be the shortest episode of the whole series.
Only 43 minutes long.

Which I think is going to make it even more of a rush.

It'll be a few years until season 2 comes out as well.
One of my worries at the beginning was that they weren't giving themselves enough time to tell the story, I thought they were rushing it but they've nailed everything so far so we shall see what next week brings.

Funny though that some of us feel they've moved the story on too quickly and others think nothing ever happens :ROFLMAO:

I do think that it's a valid criticism to make of the show about the relatively limited number of interactions with the Infected though.

Episode 1, 2 and Episode 5 were fantastic for ramming home how dangerous they are, but it's been slim pickings beyond that.
Though there's still something to be said about the danger of just one infected in episode 7.

I think it could have done with another period of conflict with them to expand on it.

It doesn't have to be like The Walking Dead where the zombies are so ludicrously numerous and just popping up in increasingly inexplicable places, but it would probably have added something to have them slightly more prominent.

Even if it was largely avoiding them, as I would expect that at least some of it is budget constraints and fight scenes involving them are probably expensive.

The first episode was originally meant to be a 2 parter. I feel like they should have made the last one a 2 parter, either that or they leave it on a cliffhanger

My thoughts exactly re: the timing / speed of the show. Just goes to show that you’re never going to please everybody, each to their own.

I’ve had similar conversations about the likes of Game of Thrones etc. when the final couple of seasons seemed to move forward extremely quickly - too quick for some (especially the book readers).

I love the games and have enjoyed the show greatly, so has my wife with very little prior knowledge of it

I will agree that more interactions with the infected would have been nice, because they are a big part of the game. But it is true that this isn't a "Zombie story", it's a story about what happened after the "Zombies" and the relationship between Joel and Ellie

Same as a few others have said the Mrs (not into games) and I (never played it) have really enjoyed TLOS. We were expecting a TWD style show but have been pleasantly surprised that its massively different. Every episode has either had us on the edge of the seat or emotionally invested in characters we have just met which is an accolade in itself.

Everyone to their own but we've loved every episode so far!

It's done the game justice. I think it's followed it and expanded a few back stories.

The main parts within the stunning game have been covered. When they said they were making it for TV I thought 'meh'. Genuinely thought they'd **** it up.

Yet I've loved the story despite knowing what's coming. I always thought it would be interesting to see how they handled that episode (8). We all knew it was coming. They nailed it👌

Interesting to see how it ends. Anyone who's played the game knows how much of a 'wtf' moment the game ending has (no spoilers). Also this massively sets up season 2 if it follows the games.

Season 2 will be a whole new story for anyone who hasn't played the game and going in 'blind'.

Sorry but disagree with this....spoiler explains why

End of 1 is pivotal to 2 and unless you`ve watched 1 you won`t know who the main girl is (other than Ellie) and why she does what she does

I didn't read that as him saying you could watch them independently but rather that the story itself is vastly different

Absolutely incredible, I'm blown away by how they've managed to replicate the same feelings I had while playing the game. My only complaint which I've had throughout is that I wish it was stretched out a bit more but it's a minor complaint.

So the question us gamers have debated for 10 years now...

Would you have done what Joel did or would you have let them try to create a cure?

There's a common misconception that she wasn't the only person to be immune but this shows that isn't the case

It's a tough one really, imagine a lot of people faced with that choice wouldn't think of "the greater good", especially with no gurantees that it would have worked. Ultimately a selfish decision but people generally are.

Interesting last episode. I guess it set it up for a completely different second series. I thought the change in Joel's personality was a bit too much, but I guess there is a bit of artistic license allowed. Will definitely watch the next series when it comes around. Not sure when that is likely to be, but hope it isn't too much over a year.

I'd say probably be 2 years now with the size of budget and scheduling etc but hopefully less

Overall I’ve found it to be quite disappointing. The first episode was great and has some great moments spread through the season but too many changes and missing things out for my liking. I’d ask for anyone who loved the series to play both the games.
