The Jubilee line

Every inch of track on the underground, above and below, has radio coverage supplied by an antenna system known as leaky feeder, effectively a long coaxial line which has holes drilled in the screen that allows the signal to radiate out. Through a mix of amplifiers and filters they can keep this signal at a sufficient level. I believe they've leveraged this on certain parts to incorporate mobile phone signals as well or maybe put a dedicated leaky feeder in for cellular.

I used to work on the radio system upgrade on the underground about 15 years ago

It’s good but maybe they should make sure the District Line isn’t constantly breaking down before worrying about the internet.
That’ll never happen. Since I left London (where I relied on the District Line in the latter stages) I swore I’d never even get a hotel dependent on it ever again. It’s the worst line by a mile. They should just bin it off.

In fairness the jubilee line was always the best (youngest) and now it’s even better!

Have you looked into the options for expanding the range?

Installing a simple underground rail network should solve the issues sufficiently.
Funny you should mention this, but talks have resurfaced recently about extending the tram to Stockport. New line will pass about quarter of a mile from our house .......but if it's tunnelled for a few miles then there's a chance my WiFi will improve? Best start getting faxes banged off to my MP, Andy Burnham, Gary Neville etc.

If only I was a sitting Conservative MP. Added £6bn in tunneling costs will be signed off by dinnertime tomorrow........
