McGRATH STILL MISSING
By Graeme Macpherson

St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin has given an update on the future of wantaway midfielder Jamie McGrath.

There was no sign of the 25-year-old again today in the Saints squad that beat Ayr United 2-0 in the Scottish Cup.

The Ireland international has been linked with moves to Wigan and Middlesbrough, and Goodwin says he won’t play him while that uncertainty is hanging over his head.

He said: “It’s dragging on a bit that one. Jamie is still a St Mirren player.

"I just felt it was right to keep him away from it today and go with the squad that did so well at Tannadice the other night.

"If something happens in the coming days then so be it.

"We’re cracking on with the boys that we’ve got who are committed to what we’re trying to do here.”

We're in the final week of the January transfer window.. place your bets, place your bets. I'm going for another THREE coming in
(TWO loans and a permeant transfer)

Gavin Bazunu - Goalkeeper on loan from Manchester City currently at Portsmouth, could Man City look at the work Chris Wilder did with Dean Henderson at Sheff Utd and fancy a loan upgrade or is now the perfect time to cash in with a load of sell on clauses? Shirt number 23? If Siliki is off.. 23 suits a keeper I think. Would restore a bit of normality to our squad numbers.

Jonathan Panzo - currently plying his trade with Dijon II in Championnat National 3 former Chelsea academy player has started for Monaco's first team.. does the left sided defender fancy a new challenge and a chance to reignite his career under Chris WIlder.. I think he might you know. We have a strong loan interest with view to a permanent deal in the summer.. that number 5 shirt is still vacant.

Jeff Hendrick - seems to have fallen out of favour at Newcastle, the guy was an absolute beast for Burnley, it wasn't too long ago that AC MIlan and were courting the Irish midfielder. If not for the Coronavirus pandemic he could well have been the first Irish player since Robbie Keane to make an appearance in Serie A. Newcastle have a bunch of money and need to make some room, Jeff Hendrick coming to Boro on loan would be quite the capture on deadline day! The number 8 shirt has recently been vacated by Onel Hernandez.

So there we go, the last weeks January Transfer Window prediction: Bazunu, Panzo & Hendrick - 3 very classy players filling up thin patches in the squad. The Chrissy Wilder promotion machine ZERO DEFECTS!

Portsmouth say no recall on the keeper apart from if Citeh have major issues.
That ends that one I guess

The young goalkeeper sounds promising ... had no idea who he was until our link came up

A solid keeper is a must for our ambitions. We could well see out the season without a new no.1 though, Lumley's not been bad of late but he's still not the one for my liking, going ahead. Particularly if the playoffs don't go to plan, and we're aiming for the top two next season 😁 😁 (y)
