The impossible dream?

Imagine, if you will, for just one moment that we somehow manage to win our last 6 games. We are capable of winning against each of the teams we still have to face but putting together a 6 game winning streak is a huge ask for any team in this division. Anyhow, if we were to somehow win 6 in a row we would have 75 points that is pretty much touch and go whether that's historically been sufficient to get you 6th spot in the table.

A couple of questions - firstly, if we were able to get 75 points do we think that would be enough to seal 6th spot? I've not looked at the remaning fixtures for the others between us and the playoffs, or indeed the run ins for the likes of Barnsley, Bournemouth and Reading.

Seocondly, if we somehow squeezed 6th spot on the final day how much of an advantage would a 6 game winning run be heading into the play offs?

I wish I had your optimism.

I wish I had that level of optimism too, it's more like a huge 'what if?' scenario. Personally I think we'll pick up a mixed bag of results and finish a few points out of the play offs but close enough for the Blackburn / Swansea games to have made a difference.

I could be wrong, but I don't actually believe the players OR the manager want it. They will go through the motions, but they certainly won't be going all out to win. After drawing with Watford Warnock pretty much said that he won't have to bull**** about the play-offs anymore.

We will be lucky to win 3 of the last 6..... let's look forward to a clear out in the summer and a promotion push next year

I was shouting from the rooftops that we would gatecrash the playoffs, always convinced, even when we lost to Millwall I just (knew) thought that with NW anything in the chamopionship was possible, with the players he had given new energy & that we would go on another winning run but this time, not fall when we get that final chance, but the way we tret the Bournemouth game after doing the hard work & grabbing the equaliser I thought we'd have gone on stamped our authority & won, but sadly we reverted back to the team before NW arrived & just fell apart

No chance of winning 3 games from that total of 6

Just looking forward to the summer & hopefully hes given money & not bring in players to boost numbers but to perform to a good standrad & a realsitic chance of the playoffs

If we bear Barnsley we can beat the five teams after them. 75 points gets us in 6th place by my calculation (albeit on goal difference) no team wants to play a team on the back of a 6 game winning streak, boro would have nothing to lose and be very dangerous indeed.

It's ok to dream, we have the players capable of winning games. on the whole I think we've given a good account of ourselves this season and shown that we can go toe toe toe with the best of them.

it'd be a minor miracle if we beat Barnsley given their form...lets focus on that first.

One step at a time. One punch at a time. One round at a time

just having a look at fairly recent whoscored ratings for an available XI

GK Betinelli 7.49

DR Fisher 7.26
DC Hall 8.16
DC McNair 7.47
DL Bola 7.99

MC Howson 7.46
MC Saville 7.26

MR Spence 7.66
FW Watmore 8.48
FWL Kebano 7.73

FWR Bolasie 8.16

very much capable of holding Barnsley to account

If we win all our remaining games we will probably finish in the play off spots. Assuming even money on all games that's a 32-1 shot. Given we are 2-1 at the weekend that makes it a 64-1 shot. They win occasionally about 1 time in 64.

I could see maybe that a few more players than already mentioned have been told to find new clubs.
In that case some will remain professional, some will have chucked the towel in.
Possibly a reason for a loss of momentum and form since January.

The team is picking itself for me with fitness and form
Betinellli
Fischer, Hall , McNair , Bola
Howson. Saville
Kebano , Coulson , Watmore
Bolasie

I have thought all along that Coulson has something to offer , and Warnock said he is the best player in the no10 role in training , so give him a shot . He just needs to calm down and not rush his passing .
The 3 behind Bolasie can play any of the 3 positions , making them hard to pick up.

I'd love to see Coulson stay and team the champo an new one!
