The Hundred

I support England, Yorkshire and Boro so it's difficult to raise much enthusiasm for new sides with cricketers seemingly just put in a hat and playing for the highest bidder, but I suppose it'll catch on.

Even thought it had an exciting finish I couldn't raise any enthusiasm for this format - apart from 10 balls being bowled from one end at at time , either by one bowler or two, I failed to see how it is so different from T20
I'll watch the men's game tomorrow night to see if it has any other big differences but as of now it's got very little going for it.

Cannot believe this tosh is starting when the One Day Cup is on. Going to Scarborough for Yorkshire game and they have 10 of their first team squad missing. Similar situation for Surrey. So Yorkeshire are vitually fielding a massively weakened side on what is an important game. Still charging full price to get in though.

The Hundred is cricket for those who don't like or understand cricket.

A bit of trivia. Manchester Originals Kate Cross is the daughter of David Cross, who played for West Ham in the 1980 FA Cup Final.
(Born in Manchester so most definitely a Manchester Original! )

It was terrible..stop ruining cricket - test/county championship , one days and T20..those 3 are all we need.

It wasn’t that bad.

It’s just a t20 tournament with a few tweaks condensed into a few weeks, with razzmatazz. To get the attention people who aren’t normally into cricket. And put the women on equal parity with men.

I’ll probably watch it over the next few weeks - much more preferable To watching the Olympics on TV at 3am in an empty venue…

Couldn’t agree more. Enjoyed watching it this evening

I'm reserving judgment. I love cricket but think we've got enough in Test / 50 over and various T20 formats.

You simply can't knock cricket like the T20 the other night. I do love the IPL and less so the big bash. I am also still a test match purist.

I'm not overly convinced we need the 100. I would rather we threw more money at a top end T20 tournament. Unlike the ones abroad we lack 'stars' as usually on England duty or won't travel.

I'm not slating the women's game but I didn't watch last night and doubt I will watch any. I don't know any players (just like women's football). I will give it a go tonight with the blokes.

I guess if nothing else it may get kids interested as very family friendly. Also a few quid back for county cricket during these covid times. I just think like football you can have 'too much'.

It will be interesting to see if it realty takes off. We have enough franchise cricket that you could see India and Australia 'doing it better' and throwing money at it. It's a potential another great payday for big hitters and decent economy bowlers.

And that my friend is the entire point. It gets people into cricket who wouldn’t normally be interested in it
I don't understand how. If you don't understand 6 balls in an over then what difference is 5 or 10? Not significantly shorter than T20 either.
Less teams and so backing your local team isn't an option for many.
