Care to share what attitudes they are? Well….the disbelieving, it will never happen, I’ll be dead by then type of attitudes. Those outdated types of attitude.

The idea of global warming was new back then and lots of people thought it wasn’t serious but we know different now.

The reason it’s getting bigger news and more people are concerned now is we are starting to see the affects whereas back then the affects were in the distant future so people didn’t care as much as they do now.

I wasn’t quoting you when I said “I’ll be dead by then” hence why I said attitudes like yours.

Maybe I have misinterpreted your posts and assumed you don’t think we have a problem with climate change or that it is wrong that this is newsworthy and advice should be given. If so, I apologise.

But those dismissing peoples concerns because we had a hot summer in 1976 or because they work in a hot kitchen or because they’ve sat my a pool on holiday are missing the point of those concerned.
 
Let me tell you that 40+ is no joke. But you can deal with it without aircon. We've been over 40 for 8 or 9 days now and the forecast is for it to continue.

Very important to close curtains and windows during the day and open them at night. Don't go out in the sun in the middle if the day, in fact stay in the shade all the time if at all possible. Keep hydrated.

We had no aircon until yesterday when it finally got fixed and we survived. But sleeping has been difficult.

This is a temperature never experienced in the UK before. Just take a few precautions people!
 
Keeping hydrated is the key. Whatever the weather. Granted I'm now taking my own advice after my kidney Issues but I've definitely noticed a change for the better in my overall health and wellbeing from drinking 1000 liquid ounces of water between 7am and 10pm.

The power of the media is immense - people can be manipulated and pointed in any direction world leaders want now, just by a continuous bombardment of the same message. Doesn’t matter whether it’s truth or not, most people will believe what they are fed by their newsreader on the tv. People have lost the ability to think for themselves or question anything for fear of being labelled mad

No one knows what temperatures we’ve had in the past here or anywhere else because temperature gauges hadn’t been invented. Climate change is normal, this country was covered in ice not that long ago (in relative terms) - nothing we do can to halt changing weather patterns, and it’s absolutely naive to think we can stop it
