Legendary Geordie funfair - The Hoppings WILL return to Newcastle's Town Moor for a 12-day spectacular this summer from Thursday 19 August - Monday 30 August 2021!

The Hoppings is a firm favourite in the annual Geordie event calendar and was greatly missed in 2020 when it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Hoppings is billed as Europe's biggest and best travelling funfair with 300 rides and attractions and has become a regular feature on the North East's summer entertainment calendar since it first began in 1882.
A regular favourite with families and visitors across the North East and with nearly 140 years history in Newcastle, The Hoppings is a brilliant day out filled with thrills and spills on Newcastle's Town Moor. Let's hope it doesn't rain during The Hoppings this August!
Watch out for the return of thrilling rides, such as AIR, Extreme, Waltzers and Wild Mouse sure to make even the bravest dare devils scream. There are rides for children including helter-skelters and cup and saucer rides and fairground rides for thrill-seekers.

under new management the freemen have handed over responsibility to Ryan Crow. change of dates this year may result in a smaller than usual lineup of rides and attractions with showpeople who usually attend the june fair having other commitments for the temporary new August date which should work better as the kids are off school, the nights will be darker earlier and the fair running on a bank holiday weekend

Goose Fair lacks atmosphere and is expensive most rides asking £3-5 a pop.Hull is my favourite fair of the year with Stokesley and Yarm not far behind (backend street fairs)

You wont find the Hoppings any cheaper than the Goosefair and I doubt you`l find rides less than 3 pounds on any fair.
Goosefair has loads of "atmosphere", but then again, each to their own?

you find rides at Hull on £1-1.50 after the first weekend especially in the less populated centre area to try and drum up some business. Some of the Waltzers go down to £1-1.50 and the dodgems take your pick you can have 8 tokens for £10. At Newcastle and Goose its £3-4 a token

goose fair has lots of mushy peas stands too. literally peas in a tub with mint sauce.

This was the state of the Town Moor in 2012 (the fair should never have taken place)
