The Gazette's spelling of Billingham

I was once buying a rubber dinghy from Billhigham Marine and thought it wasn't too far to go and have a look at it, turned out his name was Bill Higham and he is based in North Wales. 🤣🤣🤣

It still makes me smile when I go on his website for items.;)

Sadly the media like so many things is run on a shoestring isn't it. Staff work from home and so in isolation and there aren't the levels of checks done any more in the rush to publish online.

Why do people even read these articles. So badly researched by skeleton staff. This isn’t a spelling error. It’s a factual error.

In partial fairness to the Gazette, they’ll have cut and pasted across the spelling error from the media release. Of course, it hasn’t been checked and cutting and pasting is what local journos mostly do these days.

Northern Rail put out a media release the other week (£1 journeys) with the spelling of Middlesborough, no media that I saw anywhere picked up on it.

Clicks for advertisers, not accurate content, is what counts now.

Ive struggled for a decent chippy in boro. Years ago when i was a kid croft chippy always had a queue out the door.

I venture to redcar or seaton now but happy to take peoples recommendations on board. Its all about consistency same with parmos you can find somewhere thats spot on one week then dog$hit the next time you try the same place a week or two later!

The chippy's in the TS6 area are awful and we either tend to go to Saltburn (near the pier) or to The Mighty Cod in Seaton Carew.

Many years back, Robinson's chippy in South Bank and his brother's chippy in Teesville were quality.
