The first shot at China

Pompeo has literally all but declared war on the Chinese Communist Party.
Calling on all 'free nations' around the world to stand together and overthrow the CCP.
Just listened to Pompeo's speech live on YouTube and he's taking questions now.

Some points from the speech.

Chinese not to be trusted in any aspect.
Speaks highly of the Chinese people.
Calls on all nations to ask China for transparency and reciprocity.
Compares CCP to the old USSR but warns CCP is more of a danger than the USSR and speaks of work done between USA and Russia to better relations.
Blames previous administrations for ignoring human rights issues in China.
Speaks highly of the freedom fighters in Hong Kong
Warns that our children's children will be in danger of been ruled by CCP worldwide unless the world does something about it.

Other thing I've noticed from the speech, there are a **** load of secret service personnel roaming the grounds.

Up Pompeo!

Pompeo:

"China is Marxist-Leninist state, Xi Jinping is a true believer in totalitarian ideology. Communists almost always lie"

" CCP supremacy is not the future, it's time for free nations to act. If we bend the knee now our children's children will be at the mercy of China" 😳

Sounds a lot like a presidential election campaign tactic. Should get the die hard Americans on the side of Trump

Let's not forget the change of tact from the CCP... Hong Kong, South China sea, Australia, 5g in Europe, Indian border... Hardly chilling out.
Too simplistic to claim it's just for the election although I'm sure there's something in there but not to the level your inferring.

The timing of the speech is certainly intriguing.

Although there is some truth to Chinese aggression (both physical and political), the yanks are just as bad. Pompeo's words are not about world security, they are about suppressing Chinese growth at the expense of americas (greedy) share of the worlds economy.

"The Coming War on China, from award winning journalist John Pilger, reveals what the news doesn’t – that the world’s greatest military power, the United States, and the world’s second economic power, China, both nuclear-armed, may well be on the road to war. Nuclear war is not only imaginable, but planned. The greatest build-up of NATO military forces since the Second World War is under way on the western borders of Russia. On the other side of the world, the rise of China is viewed in Washington as a threat to American dominance. To counter this, President Obama announced a ‘pivot to Asia’, which meant that almost two-thirds of all US naval forces would be transferred to Asia and the Pacific, their weapons aimed at China. A policy which has been taken up by his successor Donald Trump, who during his election campaign said “We can’t continue to allow China to rape our country and that’s what they’re doing”. Filmed on five possible front-lines across Asia and the Pacific over two years, the story is told in chapters that connect a secret and ‘forgotten’ past to the rapacious actions of great power today and to a resistance, of which little is known in the West."

Great politics ‘for the people‘ - lets act tough on China. I see we are following suit (no doubt under instruction)
In reality how will that manifest itself. If China want to mess about with us we will get an economic hammering. We may not notice, of course, as it will be hidden under Covid and Brexit downturns.
As for America - could be really interesting. Two massive economies that could work really well together at ’war’ with each other.
Trump is known to play tariff games with China and they are happy to respond.
If it becomes a race to the bottom who wins?
The short term consequences, if a trade war plays out, are economic decline and unemployment.
China are far more equipped to handle that than USA. Their people will stand behind ‘the cause’ and suffer whilst the Americans will struggle to pay mortgages, school and medical fees.

In the end, all China needs to do is call in there debt. China has played a very long game here.

Will give this a watch tonight. Cheers.

USA's economic superiority is under threat, no surprise really, they passed so much to the Chinese to produce for them.

The failure of capitalism and a lunatic in charge of the most dangerous 'free country' on the planet.what could possibly go wrong?

Extract:

Five years ago, Britain's then Chancellor George Osborne spoke of his ambitions to usher in a gilded period of China-United Kingdom relations while aboard a bullet train in Chengdu, Sichuan, where he was courting Chinese investment in planned high-speed rail lines.

Weeks later, the UK's then prime minister David Cameron and President Xi Jinping toasted the "Golden Era" over pints at a country pub in Buckinghamshire.

This week, on a visit to London, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo praised the UK for its decision to ban Huawei from building 5G infrastructure, a measure the US has lobbied for aggressively.

Pompeo had earlier given European leaders the ominous ultimatum to choose "Washington or Beijing", leaving little room for neutrality in what some commentators are labeling as a new Cold War.

Its clear the US is defining the narrative for its "allies" - in order to forward its own agenda to advance its own self-interests.

It's odd because during his speech yesterday Pompeo said it wasn't as simple as choosing sides.

I do believe though it's about keeping America as the defacto leader of the free world. Which in a choice between them and a totalitarian regime ran by the CCP I'm choosing freedom.
