The Expanse Season 6

7 episodes in, quite enjoying it …not entirely sure what’s going on, but I’m sure it will drop in
Definitely stick with it. It's a slow burner but it's all about the characters (like the early game of thrones).

I watched all 5 series in the last 6 weeks so very much late to the party. I can't believe I'd never watched it as a science fiction geek.

It's going to be interesting how they end it. The series pretty much follow the books (so series 5 is book 5 etc). Yet it's ending after 6 series with 9 books.

Firstly a big thank you for pointing me towards this TV Show

Currently on Episode 2 in Season 4 and absolutely love it

Amos is an absolute beast and love his character

Is it worth reading the books, usually find the books are stripped out for TV?

I'm pretty new to the expanse party. I binged all 5 series over the last couple of months. I'm not going to watch series 6 until all 6 available (so mid Jan).

So I've started on the books. I'm 3/4 of the way through the 3rd one. I have to say bar a few little tweeks the series is pretty faithful to the books.
I have to say some bits in the first book are almost 'shot for shot' replicated in the series.

I wish I'd read them first. It's weird comitting to 9 books knowing whats going to happen in the first 5😂.

Want some decent sci fi to watch but don't like the idea I'd be watching for hours and hours not knowing what's going on

Don't worry about it, there is enough spectacle and mystery to draw you in. It has very believable spaceship design and some of the special effects are in the "how did they do that?" class, you can occasionally spot where money has been saved (some of the spaceship scenes are re-used several times) but overall visually eclipses everything short of The Mandalorian (IMO). The closest series in terms of story arc that I can think of is Babylon 5. I don't think it is "decent sci-fi", it is the best Sci-Fi TV series, ever.

Just finished final episode. Not perfect but a fitting end to the best Scify series on TV.......or is it?

Definitely didn't feel like a final ending, despite the claims, though I'm sure that was deliberate by the showrunners to try and get picked up for a 7th season..

In a way though, I hope it was.

I hated every minute of this season that was set on the planet beyond the ring gates, no idea why they thought it would be a good idea to have a few kids that couldn't act at the start of every episode.

Beyond the rings would surely be the primary focus of any future seasons too.

Been a brilliant series and they've had a few Easter Eggs throughout but I was laughing when they named all the drop-soldiers after other sci-fi series characters.

Watched it just after midnight on thurs/fri and then had to wait for twitter/reddit etc. to catch up and fill in the ones I didn't recognise.

Because the general on the planet features very heavily in the remaining books, so its setting up his character.

I binged all 6 last night. I held back until all were available and dodged any spoilers.

I thought the ending was alright. It was always going to be difficult due to every season being a book and still 3 books not made for TV. The final book only came out in November.

The whole planet beyond the rings story is pivotal to the continuing story. Although that's only relivent if they make more.

I read the producers said it was a good 'point to pause' rather than it actually ending. Talk of possible Prime films to tie up the series. The issue always was that the books 'time jump' 30 years so you'd need new actors or decent CGI/Make up to age them all.

An alright conclusion (pause) to a very good series.

Could have set him up without having awful child actors.

It's fine if they actually expect it to be picked up for further seasons, but if it's not then the final season was short and spent a significant time diverting itself with a little girl and "dogs" fixing things.

I think the ending was a fitting way to pause the show, it brought the Earth/Mars/Belter arc to a close nicely while setting up the ring gate arc.

I fully expect further shows or feature films to be made, probably deviating from the time jump in the book to avoid the issue and cost of ageing the current cast.

Going to have to binge them all again at some point as I thoroughly enjoyed the programme.

I fully agree. I get it's not an actual 'ending' as the story hasn't finished.

The books are basically 3 book story arcs 1-3 4-6 7-9 all cover different stories. The series has been pretty faithful to the books (apart from some characters carying out stories that were not them in the books to save needing more actors)

I think we will see more. God knows how they age them all 30 years. I guess you could just advance 5-10 as it wouldn't make any difference.

Well no, anyone who has read the books would understand that the kids play a part in it too. The show is following the books, its not their fault Amazon Studios is dropping it because its expensive to produce. I hope it gets picked up again by someone, as its a fantastic series.

I've not read the books but apparently the revelation about Clarissa means they might be hinting at a time compression for any future installments (don't thinkt that's a spoiler but I've hidden it just in case).
