The end?

I think the prisoners have been given a choice if they sign up for military duties with the Wagner Group - serve (with potential pardon) or be executed. There was a video doing the rounds with supposedly Prigozhin doing the talking, either way any prisoners would probably utilised either off the front as support or chucked in as cannon fodder.

Ok, my mate says that Putin has asked Erdogan to negotiate the withdrawal of Russian troops from all of Ukraine, including Crimea. Let's hope he is right. He says negotiations have started. Not sure what he is seeking in return for the withdrawal.

Would be great if true, but that sounds like complete nonsense.

They've just announced scheduled sham referendums for this week, there is absolutely no chance they'd be asking Turkiye to facilitate a surrender right now.

Well, I may be guilty of wishful thinking but he has been right about most things in this conflict so far.

As above, they've just announced that they're holding sham referendums in the invaded regions this week and are increasingly mooting mobilisation, there's next to no chance that Putin is trying to surrender at the same time.

Obviously it's amazing news if he was, but I very much doubt it.
Far too much pride, money and bodies invested now to give up what they're still holding, especially something that by their reckoning has been officially part of Russia for 8 years.
Putin would be ousted.

Putin has just met with Erdogan (and others) in Uzbekistan and Erdogan has just come out and said Putin is willing to negotiate and should give up all occupied Ukrainian territory.

It’s an odd thing to come out with at this time but Putin may be playing him… who knows after recent events? Putin still has a good few hawks that want mobilisation and the SMO to be declared a war, so a negotiated withdrawal will be hard to spin as a Kremlin victory, those hawks will be circling. I’d like to be hopeful of an end soon, it’s not hard to imagine either outcome potentially being the end of Putin.

We will see I guess. He has been massively weakened. To have Erdogan telling him that Russia needs to end the war and return all of Ukraine to "its rightful owners" would have been unthinkable just a few weeks ago. Mobilisation would be desperately unpopular in Russia, especially as it is now openly reported that they have sustained huge losses. He may be trying to save his bacon now.

Erdogan saying Russia should withdraw is an entirely different matter to Russia actually withdrawing.

I'm sure Putin's definition of negotiation is getting to keep what Russia has already stolen.

Sadly , I can’t see this .

He will try to hold his b***ks referendums and try and claim Russia is under attack . Which is to either justify :

- declaring war and generate mobilisation
- use tactical nukes

As far as I’m concerned, Ukraine should keep attacking them . **** their fake referendums . Nobody recognises their claims, only Russia. If Russia wants to use tactical nukes for one thing, they will be legitimately internationally isolated .
