The end?

Pelicans, horses and dogs added to the Russian military target list in the last week but worst of all was the continuing civilian hunting in Kherson and the west of Ukraine. The images of the child and the old couple in their car are to much for on here but anyway….

**** Putin

It's important to distinguish between drones and missiles. They are sending greater numbers of drones because they are able to produce them in numbers relatively cheaply. Most of the drones get intercepted. It's the missiles that cause the most damage and casualties.
Hopefully more Patriots will improve the interceptions with missiles.

While focusing on the north, the south is being agitated..

I'd say migration caused by the consequences of global heating is a bigger threat to the West than Putin. The inability of the EU to manage its borders feeds the nationalist populism we see in every country in the West.

To a degree yes, however migration caused by disturbance in their own countries by outside - empiric - despot & tosspot agitators is a huge influence on destabilisation..

I also think the EU worded their open border policy with extra rose tinted glassed - a noble idea & aspiration no doubt, however it needed more robust defences against abuse.. not just nationalistic soapbox mouthpieces.. concerns are real & justified, both within & outside the EU..

The assumpton of EU planners was that wealth and liberal democracy would trickle out of the EU to the east and south . Huge missed opportunities trying bomb the middle east into modernity and letting Russia descend into kleptocracy.

Well well well TACO man ..50 days to sanctions ..then it will be ...2 weeks more know doubt
...what a joke of a bloke he really is
I regret to say that Trump is playing a blinder politically here: He clearly sides with Putin and wants him to achieve all his aims in Ukraine. But he is aware that doing this openly is politically untenable.

So he has managed to allow Russia to continue to bombard Ukraine for at least another 50 days and made some vague pledges about patriots and offensive weapons with no real detail behind it. The media are reporting it as Trump finally getting tough on Putin so he gains lots of political points while allowing Putin to continue doing what he is doing.

I suspect the Tump/Putin plan is to try and bomb the Ukrainians into submission over the summer so they meekly accept a Trump brokered peace deal (Ukrainian surrender) in the autumn.

There is a lot riding on any potential summer counter offensive now. If it goes well it changes the narrative around Russia being inevitable winners. If it goes badly it plays into Trumps hands to force the Ukrainians to surrender.

Also the proposed secondary tariffs would presumably include the EU due to them buying Russian oil. This gives Trump the ideal excuse to back down from this in 50 days because 'the Europeans asked me not to impose the tariff - they want me to be tough on nations dealing with Russia but they are doing it themselves!'. That is exactly the sort of thing Trump would love to say.

Sad times.

Sadly I agree .. lots of noise, lots of off ramps and not much in the way of distributing much needed weapons quickly....Timed to distract form his Epstein issues and the implications that has on him.

Lots of mixed messaging at the moment..
Reports of Russian advances in the south and stalled offensives in the north.
Orange shitgibbon giving the apperance of support but with off ramps and a free hit for Putin for 50 days.
Russian warships firing on Nato observation drones in the Baltics
Nato warning Kaliningrad that any Jamming leading to an accident will be responded to with force..

and GS has gone into submarine mode, running deep and silent (probably a lot on and too delicate a time to release his missives ) ..

I'm scratching for any updates...

it's a shame its so serious, cos this guy would make a great comedian

"Ukraine no longer has electoral procedures or freedom of speech, and dictatorship becomes increasingly visible in the country, Russia's Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said, responding to TASS questions on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Potsdam Conference.

"There is a tenure of power and increasingly obvious signs of dictatorship," he said, describing the similarities between modern Ukraine and the Third Reich.

"Electoral procedures have been canceled under the pretext of war, opposition activists have been persecuted or jailed, and freedom of speech has been annihilated," Medvedev said in response to a question about whether the three D's - demilitarization, denazification, and democratization - decided upon at the Potsdam Conference could now be applied to Ukraine."

Obviously 50 days more without a ceasefire means more civilian deaths, but no ceasefire means Russia's military continues to be under pressure and degrade. A ceasefire might actually be a welcome respite for Russia, allowing munitions to be rebuilt, forces to be moved, training to occur.
