MIDDLESBROUGH'S Dorman Museum reopens its doors next week, welcoming back customers in a Covid-secure way.

The popular museum and its on-site café, Dresser's Tea Room, will welcome visitors once more on Wednesday, June 2.

All eight galleries will be open for people to enjoy, including a fascinating exploration of Earth in space, the Linthorpe Art Pottery collection and the Four Corners gallery, which showcases artefacts from the ancient, modern and natural world.

The ever-popular exhibition on the world-renowned design pioneer, Christopher Dresser, will also reopen.

Entry to the museum will remain free of charge, although visits must be booked in advance to allow for social distancing.

Advanced cleaning measures will be in place, and hand sanitisers will be placed at the entrance, exit and at various points around the one-way route through the museum.

Middlesbrough Museums Manager JR Bowes said: "We're so happy to be able to open our doors to the public once more.

"The safety of our visitors and team is our main priority, and we're following the latest government guidance to ensure the museum is Covid-secure.

"We have some exciting changes planned for the Dorman in the coming months, including new exhibitions and more opportunities for local people to engage with our programme.

"Reopening to the public is an important first step - watch this space!"
