Going to see The Dissident this evening. Docu-drama about the murder of Jamal Khashoggi by the Saudis.

It has received very good reviews.

Just got back from seeing this and it was even more disturbing than I anticipated.

If fans of Newcastle or Derby entertained holding out open arms to these people they would surely surely have a change of mind when they see this. Utterly
frightening what the Saudis get up to including the employment of “the flies” to mould public opinion on Twitter with thousands of propaganda messages to the hacking of the phones of the worlds politicians and high profile businessmen. The Crown Prince himself sent Jeff Bezos a Whatsapp contains a bugging device which infected the Amazon man’s phone. Why? Because Bezos, in support of his Washington Post colleague, pulled out of a big business conference in Saudi Throwing people in jail for no crimes whatsoever and the systematic torture of friends and relatives of those who had fled the country.

And as for the murder itself. Barbaric beyond words.

When you say going to see it is this something that is only on at the cinema , not Netflix or sky?

Saudi Arabia is one of the most brutal tyranical racist mysogynistic regimes in the world.... difficult to imagine one that is worse.
It is accepted as fact that their leader, Crown Prince Salman, santioned Jamal Khasshoggi's murder, and quite possibly the horrific means of carrying it out.
That being the case, balance the complete apathy of the West against the huge furore over Putin's sanctioning of the Novacheck poisonings, which of course is also abhorrant.
The hypocrisy is breathtaking.
History will not look kindly on us.

Or perhaps what is going on in Myanmar? Shame some places don't have any oil, we'd be in like a shot!!

Women have just got the legal right to drive there and don't mention the right to vote. The country did live in the middle ages until oil was found, but its had 70 years to change and progress seems very slow.

Given their recent record on human rights no progress whatsoever.
