The difference last night

I thought we gave a decent representation of ourselves last night, and whilst Fulham looked the more comfortable on the ball, we did cause them problems deeper into the game.

The game hinged on them having one clear cut chance, which Mitrovic took, and us having 4 good chances which Crooks, Sporar, Coburn and Watmore didnt take.

Other than that, there wasnt too much between the teams, and should we get tot he play offs, I dont think many teams will relish having to play us.

Wilder has clearly instructed his players moving forward to hold the ball up at the top end of the pitch, more players, more options, more opportunities. Last night we saw Sporar one on one with the keeper.. slowing down playing others in.. including Fulham defenders. Now the chance that was created was not as strong as the chance Sporar initially had. One goal was the difference, one chance and they took it. We didn’t.

We’re doing it by the numbers and I get it.

We’re seeing less snatches at the ball in and around the box.. more slow build up play more of our players creating a statistically advantageous environment got goal scoring..

I do wish Sporar had just lashed it first time, a good old fashioned toe poke!!

Crooks was so unlucky, that defender stuck a leg out and it could of gone anywhere. For Fulham, it went over instead of in. I was pleased with how we played, we certainly weren't outplayed and made to look lethargic like we did against Chelsea.

Unlucky from Crooks with his chance, it was heading for the back of the net but for a defender deflecting it.

Sporar should have scored with his free header, but he also had a decent shot from outside the box.

Coburn absolutely should have scored with his free header, it would have been a spawny one as he was actually offside though it wasn't given, but it was a perfect cross and he had the net gaping.

Watmore should have at least managed to get it on target right at the end, but I'd have excused it being saved.

difference was they put there one good chance away through quality finishing our 5 or 6 chances ere missed....

That defender Tim Ream got in the way of at least 3 Boro shots at goal and was more responsible than any other Fulham player for their victory. Moreover, he was very fortunate to even continue on the pitch after Tav’s free kick went smashing into his face.

Hopefully our new recruitment maestro can bring in the right forwards this summer. If so, we’re up.

My main recollections of the game apart from our missed chances were , the unlucky Crooks deflection of his goal bound shot, Sporah being really weak as for instance when he got pushed off the ball near the goal , and Tav miscontrolling and losing the ball several times and thus having to chase and try to recover the situation.

Really rate Tav but his one major weakness is his right foot. He is incredibly one footed and often gets himself off balance by using his left peg when it should be his right and ends up mis controlling the ball.
If you watch McGree, he's got 2 decent feet.

I felt we were ok, but the wing backs didn't offer the needed attacking threat.

I don't blame either. They are defenders being asked to do a job that was a little beyond their limits.

Otherwise, I thought Fulham's pressing and defending were excellent. We know they're capable of big hits, but didn't show it last night. It was their defending that caught the eye. Every promotion campaign will feature a few 1 goal victories when you don't outplay the opposition but find a way to win, even if your opponents had chances to take something from it.

I'd also say that no team should be too proud or snobby to value a physical centre forward and set piece goals
