The Clash at The Rock Garden May 1977

Sound wasn't great TBH. Exciting night. Took my mate who is/was a staunch rock fan and he complained about the sound all night. Still does to this day if you ask him now.

Cheers haven't seen that before,as 9 year old it was a bit early for me too. Did see them at Brixton 82/83? Pogues supporting,Smiley Culture too(think it was the same gig, that or I saw them twice?)
Did you ever get to Scarboro Penthouse? It had passed by the time I got here, but I've heard some fond memories from folks over the years.

So many bands I regrettably missed at the RG like the Clash, Sex Pistols but saw plenty of others during my misspent youth going there on a Saturday night.

Only went to The Penthouse a couple of times but went to the Rock Garden from 78 through until it closed then became The Cavern but it was awful then.

Penthouse was a great place. I remember going over the moors on the back of my mate's bike in the middle of winter to see VDGG. Great gig, but we were just about frozen to death.

Other gigs I don't remember much about:

Cherry Vanilla and the Police (my first visit to RG, did Ms Vanilla even show up?)
Ultravox (pre-Ure)

I do remember Penetration and definitely the legendary 'Acne Rabble'. Also support bands :
Subway Sect (frontman looked murderous),
Cowboys International (strange high-rise trousers).

DCI - is that Remember When edition still available to buy in retailers? or can it be bought from Gazette Direct?

I was too young to attend music events in 1977

I remember been the Holgate when we beat Newcastle in August 1977 after the Sex Pistols had just played the Rock Garden. I think they called themselves the Stooges. My first Punk single purchase was Something Better Change by the Stranglers. I probably have it packed away somewhere.

Remember When maybe in the shops, I'm not sure, I got it by other means, the page I've posted is all there is about the gig.

Pistols called themselves Acne Rabble when they played the Rock Garden but for some reason the posters/tickets spelt it Acne Rebble!
