Yep. I vaguely remember the game and I think it was 5-0 around the hour mark and our stadium was emptying very quickly, yet I was flabbergasted at just how good, ruthless and so much better than us, they were.

Few seasons later is when we lost 4-0 at home to them and I still think they impressed me more that day than the 6-1 hammering we got.

That day they ripped us to shreds and made it look like it was men versus boys. Henry was just a level above. They could have easily smashed another 4 or 5 goals past us that day. They never once got out of 1st gear (thankfully!) and yet made us look so inferior. Sure that was their invincible season.

Which was the Kanu game? Got 6-0 in my head.

And a later one away. Have a feeling we even went 3-1 up and immediately thought "shouldn't have made them angry". Think that ended up 5-3 or something stupid.

You're correct, I'm sure that was the invincibles season as well.

Yeah you're right about 6-0 with Kanu.

That 5-3 game was crazy. As soon as we went 3-1 up, they immediately cranked it up and turned it on and we couldn't handle them.
 
Think I must be in the minority to have seen Messi on an off day.

The friendly mentioned above, he hugged the right wing the whole first half, had about two touches and got rid of it quickly again when he did. Basically trying his hardest not to get injured (I think this was October) and got hooked at h/t.
 
Nothing compares to the excitement and sense of anticipation when George Best - in his prime - got the ball
