Interesting he said that. I just think let him 'defend' and frig all the other guff people want CBs to do. He won everything today and has the 'marks' to prove it.

Also a nice mention for Woody 👌. A thread the other week was praising his work as a coach. He's not the first player to mention him publicly.

I said this last year

I’ve said for awhile now but he’s by and away the best technical defender in this league he’s like a rolls Royce in how he plays never panicks composed on the ball in possession and reads danger.

I think he’s a super player in fact im
Surprised he hasn’t been called up to train with England at the very least.
 
I disagree about Fry being technically as good as you suggest - he sometimes struggles in tight spaces to control and pass out

He's not bad technically either

His best attribute is as a no nonsense defender who takes minimal risks - i would go as far to say at that he is up there with the best in the league

And he's far better positionally in a back 4 - Wilder fannied him about with his daft overlapping confused back system and dogmatically refused to change it even when it was failing every week

Add Lenihan to that as well - infinitely better as an orthodox centre back in a back 4

I’ve always thought he wasn’t much of a talker and thus not much of a leader, but he sounds very confident there and I’m sure Carrick will have had some effect on him, passing on his knowledge of the game.

Thought he was a gonner at the start of the season, but credit where it’s due he’s been fantastic since the change of manager and looked great today.

I agree YT that Carrick will have a good influence on Fry, but my money is on Woody having the major effect; a master stroke by Carrick and Gibson. Not just jobs for the boys, but a well thought out plan for the future of our defensive players moving forward.
 
Spoke very well there did Dael. A top centre half who just does his job. So consistent, hardly ever makes a mistake. One of our own 👍.

I always remember Huth playing in the championship before he moved on. A proper defender. Clear the ball, get organised and go again.
