The abuse that Bettinelli has been getting

If I'm an opposing manager I'm telling my players to shoot on site anywhere near the 18 yard box. His recent performances over the past few weeks have drained the confidence out of the defence it's obvious to see. When the centre backs are having to second guess if the man behind them is going to catch the ball or not then of course the defenders are going to make mistakes.

Not really a fair comparison but look at the likes of David Seaman and Peter Schmeichel as two examples of keepers who you knew if you were playing as a centre back in front of one of those two you knew what was expected of you and you knew the keepers could back it up.
 
Against Bristol most of the players were under par, but some seem to go under the critics radar more than others. Kebano who was Fulham first teamer last season, did very little, but some choose to focus on the Fulham third choice keeper. Why wasn't the ball cleared properly by our defence for Bristol's first two goals? Why did our central defenders play such a high line in the first half when it was clear the wind was making the conditions tricky for defending particularly in the North half of the pitch.
 
He hasn't looked any better than Stojanovic or Pears, so I can't understand the signing.

I also can't understand personal abuse being leveled out at footballers, but there we go.

He's no Big Aussie, but he's also no Andy Dibble... Sometimes as a keeper you just need the ball to hit you. It hasn't been happening for him while he's been playing for us. And you can legitimately wonder about his technical skills when spreading himself infront of an opposition striker 1-on-1, but you still need that luck for the ball to hit you, because there is no such thing as a perfect technique.

The Bristol debacle was a team effort.
 
I’m still at a loss as to where all this supposed abuse is as all I’ve noticed is people knocking his ability . Could someone illustrate where this ‘ personal abuse ‘ is please ?

I asked the opening poster to reference the abuse but he seems to have missed the post. The world is getting very silly when you cant comment on the shortcomings of a players performance without people getting upset about it. It's entertainment and if people don't like what they see they will comment and if you're poor week after week, they will continue to comment.

The guy is a poor keeper and thats the top and bottom of it. People asking why Fry and McNair don't get the criticism... i've seen plenty of posts where they were criticised for the Bristol game. Fry was getting pelters last season and rightly so, hes upped his game this season and gets the credit. Im sure if Bettinelli had a few good games and maybe saved a couple he would also get some credit.

I did see your post but its a message board, not a forensic examination of my opinion. With respect, I've got better things to do than trawling through old social media posts to satisfy you.

Facebook seems to be the worst, it goes far beyond criticism of his performances (which most would agree are justified).

I'm not saying you are COB, rather I was thinking I was defending Laughing who as it tuned out didn't want defending and I missed his **** joke as I was only scan reading.

As an aside I can still laugh at some COB stuff, I just don't like racist stuff.

All forgot about mate. Nothing malicious intended. Quite liked being called a newbie, last time that happened was 45 years ago when I started working in the Special Hospital Services, probably looked after some of the morons off COB😀😀😀

I wasn't having a go at you i was just interested to see where this abuse was as it seemed to refer it was on here. Which i hadn't seen! I don't use facebook as its not for me, so don't know what goes on on there. Just seems a bit odd having a 5 page thread without people having the knowledge of this abuse... unless you all follow the same abusers on facebook :sneaky:
