The abuse that Bettinelli has been getting

He didn't threaten anything or anyone, he merely said he would make his comment face to face, rather than "hiding" on a message board. Sometimes you can't win on here.
Looking at which poster is more COB likely, then you Doncaster are the newbie, Laughing has been here in plain sight 100 times over more than you.

I’ve never subscribed to COB, and was a member of FMTTM for a few years before it changed its format. I appear as a newbie because of a change of user name. I usually enjoy your posts but in this instance your assumptions are wrong. I suggest you read my second post to Laughing.

Footballers earn money that most of us could only dream about but I think with the internet and social media etc it gives the keyboard warriors a platform where they can say whatever they want. As a footballer you expect to be criticised if you put in a bad performance or make a howler, that's way football is. But I don't understand some of the personal abuse that some dish out (not so much on here more on twitter etc). I don't rate Assombalonga but I wouldn't subject him to vile personal abuse. I think it must affect a lot of these players' mental health. I know it would certainly affect mine if people were writing unsavoury things about me online. Woodgate has alluded to similar in an interview in recent days, the vile abuse he got from some Boro fans. Some people seem to get a kick out of it.

I vaguely recall John Hendrie being in the Cooper one saturday night and taking some pretty dire commentry on his performance that afternoon. I recall the 24 bus and its turning circle were involved.

Opinions aside on his ability for the moment, does anyone else find the very personal, mocking abuse directed at him recently, distasteful?

I've seem a multitude of nicknames for him, none of them funny, and some of the comments cross the line for me.

Criticism of natural of course and no footballer is immune to it, but some people seem to get a kick from it.
It's wrong, as is calling Assombalonga 'fat boy', saying you hate him etc
I'll happily criticise them footballwise, but try not to make personal comments

That said I don't rate Betinneli, and have gone right off Britt footballwise, and am not expecting either to be here next season
I do want them to do well when they step the field of play for us

Most people are fine, and don't go ott

Surely top quality goalkeepers shine when left exposed by a weak defence? Look at Randolph, how many times did he actually earn us points by his performances? Stephen Pears is probably the best case in point here. He initially played for a side so bad that it quickly became apparent how good he was. Unfortunately whenever the outfield players don't do their jobs, it only exposed the fact that Betinelli isn't good enough IMO.

If some of the comments go beyond criticism of Bets goalkeeping technique than fair enough. That said avoid reading back the Match Day live threads. Some of the stuff in there is written at the heat of the moment. From experience some of the stuff Ive shouted out at football matches would be just plain embarrassing if seen written down.

I'm not going to fuel this set of misunderstandings, let's move on.
I'm not saying you are COB, rather I was thinking I was defending Laughing who as it tuned out didn't want defending and I missed his **** joke as I was only scan reading.

As an aside I can still laugh at some COB stuff, I just don't like racist stuff.

He made a very good save when the score was 0-0, but some people only remember Bristol's third goal which was probably preventable. Bettenelli has overall done OK for me, we have had poorer keepers in the past - Brad Jones? Ben Roberts? and is a slight improvement on the keepers we had at the end of last season. We are letting in slightly fewer goals, despite losing three well estasblished defenders in the Summer.

Well he’s rubbish , plain and simple and if he has a problem being told that well so be it . I’d love to look like George Clooney but I don’t , and I don’t need a granny society like you get on here to bump me up and massage my hurt feelings .
Same as poor little forlorn Woody yesterday slating the horrid Boro fans , I mean how dare they !
