Sorry bear, but what does Pillar 1 mean?

There was a 1.8% increase in the 7-day average for hospital deaths today. First such increase for 33 days.

Could just be a blip or due to administrative delays.
There seemed to be a big mismatch in hospital reported deaths and all deaths today. I guess they are on a different 24 hour time frame but the former were larger than the latter!

Yes, there have been a couple of occasions where that has happened.

The government say this is because the new system is more timely in reporting deaths that have occured in the last 24 hours, so on occasions NHS England will report deaths which have already been announced. However, if you read the Public Health England (who operate the new system for reporting all deaths in England) notes on their website, they imply that they add together figures from NHS England with data from their own Public Health Protection teams, so I don't really understand it myself.

How hard is it to count dead people?

They say it is to prevent double counting but how I'm still struggling to imagine how it could happen.

"117,013 tests on 26 May".

68,312 of which were merely kits posted out. So less than 50000 actual tests and many of those we know are double counted(and some triple counted) from the same person

I suspect the lab testing capacity rather than tests is what Hancock will lie the PMs 200000 target was about as that's now 161,214
