We seem to have accepted large cases of the virus are a price worth paying if it means you don't have to wear a mask on bus or in a school.

No doubt ce the end of the year the buffoon that is Johnson will be addressing us saying things will be better next winter and the summer we wil be open as normal.

The worse bit is we can't even blame the pesky foreigners as no fecker wants to come here.

Oh and hope the irony isn't missed that were struggling to vaccinate our school kids because they can't have the vaccine unless they have gone 28 days since a positive Pcr test and guess where rates are rising the fastest???

Oh well just a few more years and we can vote this shower out 😬

I watched the Newsnight debate on the report of our Covid response and Rory Stewart revealed how he'd been attacked for proposing more stringent measures earlier in the pandemic and one of the comebacks was that we need to learn the lessons from this report.
Surely, with those case numbers Cardiff posted above, masks should be lesson we are implementing and the absolute minimum requirement now that we've opened up. I know that hospitalisations and deaths aren't huge at the moment, but I just don't see the sense in accepting these high levels of new cases when mask usage is clearly helpful.
As with many others on here, I'm currently suffering the lurgy as Randy called it, strangely it's the first time since before the pandemic. It seems highly coincidental that the abandonment of masks and noticeably fewer people sanitising in shops has resulted in me picking up this heavy cold.

We need to be doing something Dood. A low percentage of 100,000 cases a day, which is where we are heading, it's still a high number of hospitalizations and deaths.

I am unconvinced that masks alone will make much difference but they may push a return to sanitizing our hands again and caution when passing other people in shops and general social distancing.

I fear we are going to either just carry on regardless of go into another lockdown.

Im convinced masks make some difference if not much. The virologists in the main say they help make a difference especially in poorly ventilated areas so would welcome their introduction as they have done in Scotland. Its a small sacrifice to make.

That last line is the salient point. Masks almost certainly make a small difference, and for zero negative effect. So why not do it? Anti mask people worry me

Completely agree should be in shops and on public transport...
