The 9am figures not disclosed yet?

I've edited and added a bit more
Cool thanks. The bit I can't understand and I suspect it's because the data isn't there is whether positive cases is simply a reflection of the number of tests or whether tests track positive cases because they would anyway.

The data I was looking for was to see if the small uplift in positive tests was accompanied by a small increase in tests.

I want to believe that cases are still falling, but we are just increasing the number of tests again.

As of 9am on 10 August, 6,117,540 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the UK.

Positive cases were 23,510 (21,691 on corresponding day last week).
146 deaths were reported today (138 on corresponding day last week).

154,202 deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate (up to 30 July).

47,091,889 have had a first dose vaccination. 32,250 first dose vaccinations yesterday. 39,688,566 have had a second dose. 137,028 second dose vaccinations today.

They're are only 54 million adults in the uk so we are at about 92% coverage of adults which is pretty good going. We may end up with massive as much as 95% of the adult population vaccinated.

Are you sure the 50 million first dose vaccines is correct, BBC says 47 million.

Also says 39.5 million have had second doses.

• 7-day average for new cases is 7.3% higher than one week ago (from 5.2% higher yesterday) and 14.7% lower than two weeks ago (from 23.2% lower yesterday and 45.0% lower 7 days ago)

I don’t think 39.5 million is 92% of 54 million

When there's more infection, more people get PCR tests, when there's less infection, less people get PCR tests. Tests will likely level off again now and start to creep back up again. The baseline is about 250k tests.

The reason cases went down isn't because of less tests (or not 95% of the reason), it is just that there is less reason to get tested, as in there's less virus circulating. PCR positivity down and all the weekly surveys point to virus levels coming down in the community down too.

That's all stopped declining now though, as we're back at the natural level, not the "supercharged Euro's level", but the good news is Step 3 with Euro's and schools open looks a faster increase than Step 4 without the Euro's. Step 4's nowhere near had full effect yet mind, and likely won't till schools are open, but it doesn't look like the highest level model predictions are likely.

Looking at the UK map of infections by region/area (albeit lagging a few days behind) gives a mixed picture. The previously very high rates across the NE continue to fall markedly. Other areas starting to grow again (e.g. some parts of the South that did not previously hit the levels experienced in the NE, Sheffield, Lincolnshire).

That depends on whether you think those that have had the first vaccine shot go on to have the second shot and it assumed bears first figure was correct before the edit.
That's a bit of a desperate way of making the figures look better even for you. So you mean 92% of the adult population have had the first shot, not are vaccinated. Thanks for clearing it up

I think we're still on our way down from the Euro's "supercharging", we will possibly further decline until we get to our natural level, and then it will start to go back up again. I don't think we will eclipse previous case peaks though.
