I suspect we will see a slow down in the drop in positive cases due to vaccine rollout mechanism and some of the support structures. Older people who are the first to be vaccinated are also the most likely to show symptoms and get a test. They are not going to lose out financially. Once those people are vaccinated you have the most vulnerable, most likely to be tested protected and, largely, removed from the testing pool. We are then left with those less vulnerable and more importantly cannot afford to isolate so keep quiet about symptoms or don't get a test so they can go to work and continue spreading the disease.
I think we may end up with background levels of infections until the vaccination programme is complete. Even then I think we will still get infections at a low background level, due to the take up of vaccinations being lower than required for herd immunity.
What we will see, I hope is a massive drop of in deaths compared to infections.
