The 9am figures not disclosed yet?

Today's headline analysis:

• 7-day average for new cases increases by 0.3% to 14,448 per day, following 2.6% decrease yesterday
• 7-day average for new cases is 13.6% lower than one week ago (from 16.9% lower yesterday) and 35.2% lower than two weeks ago (from 38.1% lower yesterday and 31.5% lower 7 days ago)

Comparing Wave 2 with Wave 1:

Highest number of positive tests (7-day average) as a proportion of all tests processed (7-day average) since 13th May (1 day later than last week).
Highest 7-day average for hospital admissions since 30th April (7 days later than last week).
Highest number of people in hospital since 24th April (2 days later than last week).
Highest number of people on ventilation since 15th May (4 days later than last week).
Highest 7-day average for new deaths within 28 days of a positive test since 11th May (3 days later than last week).
First instance of four consecutive days with 410 or more new deaths announced since 6th May (4 days later than last week's comparison with 490 or more deaths on four consecutive days).

All moving in the right direction.

Question...Do you think the mass testing of students this week including those asymptomatic will have any effect on the positive test numbers ??

I've seen somewhere that work the student testing, if they come up as positive, they're checked with a PCR test, in which case they would then be included.

The 'About' section of the government's coronavirus data website says the following about new cases data:

"Number of people with at least one positive COVID-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device), by specimen date. Individuals tested positive more than once are only counted once, on the date of their first positive test."

I would take that to mean that the rapid test results should be included. As they only count a positive result once then if, as Bear suggests, they are confirming positive lateral flow tests with a PCR test, it would still be the rapid test result which was included in the official statistics, as that will have been conducted first.

Thousands of students are getting tested this week, it's good therefore that the positive tests are still falling...

It was on the radio (bbcr4) that the lateral tests throw up more negative results. Weren’t some claiming they were more accurate

That's the point less positives, so why does it make the PCR more accurate? It just shows that the PCR is more sensitive, not good.

Anyway not getting involved believe what you want I'm way past caring

It said the lateral failed to pick up on positives, even is cases with a high viral load. Those people aren’t told to self isolate

Is that "stopped caring" or more because you can no longer find anything to support your confirmation bias for most "arguments" you have?

You seem to have gone quiet on your opinion highlights, such as "there's no second wave", "there won't be more excess", "lockdowns don't work", "Sweden is doing great", "we/ Sweden has herd immunity", I wonder why that is?

Considering the world has done over a billion test's and a majority of those are PCR, I think we can safely say that they work. They are accurate enough to serve the purpose that is intended, and combined with known symptoms, and known contacts, they paint an extremely accurate picture, and are the no 1 piece of the infection puzzle.

The entire world is relying on PCR results to limit infection, and the entire worlds governments and their economies are putting full trust in PCR, I would imagine they're well informed.
