Increase on last Tuesday, but last week was way out of sync with the general trend so to be expected. As of 9am on 1 December, 1,643,086 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the UK.
Positive cases were 13,430.
603 deaths were reported today
69,752 deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate.
Depends on tomorrow as last week had one large increase which dominated the week. Hospital admissions are falling back to where they were 5 weeks ago so hopefully things are improving. Thanks fellas. Billy, given we have had a few days with decreases in the 7 day average for deaths, are we about at a peak now? Apologies, thinking back Bear answered this, but I don't recall his answer and it aint on this thread.

What happens in the States following Thanksgiving will give us some idea of what we might expect in a months time.Purely from a trend perspective, they appear to be at the turning point to me. Probably peaked around 4 days ago, but today’s figures should confirm that one way or another.
That said, we’re obviously entering a new phase now where full lockdown restrictions are being lifted, a beefed up tiered system entered into (the effectiveness of which is unknown as yet) and we are also due to have the Christmas period with limited household mixing allowed. You would expect at least some negative impact as a result of these changes, but whether that would result in a further spike in deaths (or just a slowdown in the rate of decrease), we’ll have to wait and see.
The total figure I give is the ONS figure on a Tuesday, which is 10 days out of date. The 60,000 figure is deaths within 28 days of a positive test.Govt reporting we have only just passed the 60,000 mark.
