That is shocking - ref comments to wilder

To be fair that's exactly what I said about Steffen at the time it's not the premier League with var he needs to toughen up. It's a great excuse not talk to about the way wilder setup his side to get overrun in midfield

They had another corner soon after that, Steffen shouted out to the ref and did a a eye gesture with his fingers meaning ""watch what is going on" which got a bite from the ref and he started shouting something back to Steffen, we didn't know how to manage him to keep him onside with us, it's a myth that referees are impartial you just have to look at the history of descions against the big and most successful teams to realise that referees have a bias as well, we let QPR be his good side today and us the bad boys, who he was overly punishing.

I
Who the hell is Wilder to say the ref is wrong.

How about we actually score the first goal in an away game!!

Instead of slagging of the ref how about sending out a team that doesn’t concede 3/4 goals a game??
If it was a push or a foul (same thing) then it should be disallowed and then they wouldn't score 3, and it would be a 2-2 draw.

To be honest, I thought wilder made a bit of an ar.se of himself in that interview.
I dont think the ref had a bad game, at all. We got beat because of Wilder's team selection in defence.
I wouldve thought a man of his experience would be able to lose gracefully.

The ref definitely should not be making comments like that - if he’s passing comment on a particular incident he needs to say something like i didn’t deem it sufficient contact to award a free kick, simple as that. Highly unprofessional behaviour from the official - it’s not his place to say how players should perform

And what of managers making comments about referees?

Is it highly unprofessional to be commenting on their performance if you're a manager or a player?

In a word no - officials are there purely to officiate, not pass judgements. Managers have every right to question debatable decisions, just as you would against a traffic violation for example

It's like clutching your pearls after the opposition striker sticks two fingers up at the crowd who have been giving him abuse all game.
Really ? I’ve never heard a snooker ref saying to John Higgins you hit the ball too hard there or a tennis judge telling Novak to serve a bit slower. Refs should be seen not heard
That's because the ref isn't there to judge when the player is hitting the ball too hard, whereas the referee in football is there to judge the strength of challenges. Isnt that obvious?

Yes but he should not be passing comment on anything - he is there to officiate, not pass comment on how anyone should be playing.

He was asked. Surely. If you don't want the ref to respond don't ask him. And given all the abuse refs get from fans players manager and pundits I would blame one of them if they put the nut on someone. Honestly. Put your string of pearls down.

If the manager can come out and criticise the ref why doesn't he have a right to reply after the game.
How many times have people discussed a refereeing decision and said why doesn't he come out and say why he gave/didn't give a decision.

A foul is a foul, regardless of the physical attributes of the player on the receiving end.
If a player gets punched but hardly flinches, is it less of a foul than the same punch knocking a 'less strong' player over?

Well I honestly can’t think of another sport where a referee would be basically telling a player how to perform - it’s not in their remit to do so, and i wouldn’t be surprised if someone above him will have a quiet word about his after match comments today
