Thank You Tony Pulis

I've been going for 62 years. The first thing I will think about tomorrow is the Boro match. Pulls of his job he got rid of a lot of high paid players and had two decent finishes.
But was it worth draining the life and soul out of the club. I have never questioned what am I doing here but I did under Pulis . Woodgate was useless and his front two against Swansea begared belief, but I got more out of his time than did when Pulls was the manager.
I’m a gold st holder so I’d already paid but as you say I still didn’t want to go. I’m
More exited to watch us on my pc tomorrow than I was being at the stadium under pullis.

Agree with that. I can’t wait for tomorrow. I will wake up at about half 6 thinking about it.

Under Pulis and Woodgate I may add, i went to the games out of a feeling of obligation to my club rather than because I felt like i was looking forward to it. Warnock has certainly brought the buzz back for us fans.

Honestly I went to games out of obligation to my dad more than the club as many were so happy with the situation that I was aghast at. Booking train tickets home every weekend seemed idiotic but still did it.

Same, like you I still went but didn’t enjoy it. I wasn’t going to let that man drive me out of supporting my team.

Once Traore left, there was nothing about our games worth watching under Pulis. And I mean nothing. I will give him credit for actually playing Traore and (somehow) improving him as a player though.
Now you say it - Traore was probably the reason I was there. My big club supporting mates were always wanting to come and see us play just for Adama. Adama did TP a lot of good in protecting against lots of disasters. Fair play to TP for doing what he did with Adama but we saw what a pathetic appointment he was in his second season. His pressers killed me more than the games.

It was soul-crushing wasn't it? As it was under Woodgate, but in a different, more chaotic way. Make no mistake, we are very lucky to have Neil Warnock. He not only ensured we avoided what would have been a footballing and financial catastrophe in being relegated to League One, but has also improved us to the miraculous extent that we're now able to challenge for promotion again, literally within a few months. It's almost like the Woodgate era never happened. Thankfully. I never want to relive that season.

Pullis was intentionally dull and negative that was by design that’s the scariest thing he meant that anti football.

But whereas woody was just clueless that line up in his last game v swansea said it all, I’m still amazed at how inept that team
Line up was.

But thankgod we’ve now got a Propper manager who knows what he’s doing.

Truthfully the Woodgate season has been blotted out of memory - maybe that's my brain's way of dealing with mental trauma or whether the weird situation we ended his reign in caused total closure. If Woodgate learnt anything off Pulis we were screwed--- thankfully in some respects JW seemed knowledgeable about nowt. Warnock is great and getting results-however I'll forever be scarred by anyone claiming to be honest after TP (even NW).

Pulis blew the play offs.

We had a good chance with Traore in the team, he could change a game but we set up incorrectly.

Sometimes you have to go for it, no point narrowly losing a play off semi.
Couldn't agree more. I was merely agreeing with the fact that he got us into/near the play-offs to begin with 👍

Don’t forget Martin Braithwaite. Reckon he would have stayed and been a star for us with Neil Warnock’s encouragement. Neil would have probably told him that, if he listens to what he tells him, he will be playing for Barcelona before long. ;)
Imagine Braithwaite or Bamford in this side, we would walk the league

Bamford yes, but Braithwaite definitely not. The guy is clearly a bit of a doyle with an over-inflated opinion of his own ability. He's just not that good. Never was. Just the odd fancy flick here and there which looked clever but never led to anything significant. And before anyone says he now plays for Barca, he was a total panic buy and I could score in that side, in that league. Another terrible and overpriced signing by the clueless Monk. 👎

I wouldnt believe a thing we were told about the way he left the club, plus if you were that sort of player would you want to work under Pulis?

He had a good record before he came here playing in a good league, and was a stand out player in a poor Leganes side. Yes he certainly isnt Barce standard but he is good enough to play at the top level. I am sure under a proper manager like Warnock he would have been brilliant in the championship

The fact that he then spunked £20m on Saville, Flint and McNair kinda contradicts that fallacy...
Ok Flint never worked, scored loads for Bristol but dried up big time when he came here. Saville yes way overpaid for him but at least he's been looking like a half decent player under Warnock so not a total write off. Whereas McNair is definitely worth the 5m we paid. Pulis's mistake was not in buying him it was having done so not playing him!

Would also agree whole heartedly with the point about not trying to win. His approach was frequently trying to avoid conceding and hoping you could nick something at the other end on the rare occasion you actually got the ball anywhere near the opposition goal - soul destroying football!

The way we surrendered those playoffs was an absolute disgrace, watching us throw away that opportunity felt just as bad as loosing the final/relegations. He should have been sacked on the spot after that

I'm not so sure mate. I think as soon as he realised the league was very physical and intense and that we weren't going to walk it, he wanted to be elsewhere. Better off rid of him regardless of who the manager is, IMO.
