Thank You Tony Pulis

Money money money is why we sold Braithwaite and Bamford.
Boro needed to sell, TP was keeping the ship afloat, he never complained, always honest, Fans don’t know the full story, he’s a good man and left the club in a solid state
You have posted the most rubbish this year by any poster on this thread alone. Utter drivel.

Fair point hate is a horrid term and nothing to do with sport. Still glad he’s gone though.

I’ll save my hate for trump

I really did not mind pulisball. It was much better than Woodgates chaos and Monks dithering. The only negative I have are the fees paid for Saville and Mcnair (as a midfielder) And Flint. He invested time in Traore, which got us a decent fee and also managed to get us to the play offs, though I accept we were too negative v villa. I have spoke to people who were closely involved and the impression I got was that he was a bit aloof. That time has gone though, and I am not the type of person to dwell. We are in good hands now. If anything, I think we are more direct under Warnock. More solid and Warnock is getting more out of the players. Warnock is much better than Pulis. Pulis was much better than Monk and Woodgate. We are still short up top, but if that can be addressed in January I really think we have a chance of promotion. We could have done much worse than Pulis when he was appointe.

The reason I am so against Pulis is simple for me, it’s because i feel like he selected teams to try and kill a game of football and if he scraped a draw he would be happy. I don’t pay to go to watch football to watch my team not try and win a game. Every game you play at home you should be trying to win. With most of the teams Pulis put out I felt negative and sick even before the games kicked off.

Then you read some of the crap he comes out with in the media. He was a disaster. Just happy we have a manager now who is positive and loves winning. Chalk and cheese man

That’s because he did.

That is exactly how Karanka played in his last season though mate. Yes it was a division up, and he’d done very well to get us there, but if that’s your rationale I don’t see how you can’t apply the same disappointment in Karanka.

For me Pulis’ spell was just a middle of the road era. Enjoyed it more than Strachan’s, Agnew’s, Monk’s, Woodgate’s and Southgate’s. I don’t feel anger towards any of our ex-managers but if I did he wouldn’t be at the front of the queue by any means.

Yep thanks Tony for almost killing my love of the sport I have watched since I was 6 years old I’ve seen us relegated countless times and suffer some awful eras lost finals seen great players come and go but never once wavered.

but it was only under your excuse for anti football that I ever came close to jacking it in.
Yep, you and me both. WBA fan warned me what would happen when he came here. Trying to get George Friend throwing the ball into the box from the halfway line, nah, sorry, not for me.

I was very disappointed with Karanka in the prem. I think poor recruitment and Karankas negative style cost us our premier league status. He didn’t trust in the 4231 that he had so much success with us in the championship. I am very regretful of the fact Karanka didn’t have more of a go. The reason I feel more frustration with Pulis is because he wasn’t successful and for me with the team he had in his time here we should of been getting promoted. He didn’t use his best players in their best positions and just basically ruined any enjoyment of going to the match.

Also with Karanka we were against premier league opposition so whilst I didn’t agree with his thinking I could see why he became more cautious. Pulis wasn’t cautious, just ultra negative in my opinion.

I respect your opinion though and I certianly don’t want a t*t for tat on this subject as I respect not everyone’s gonna have the same opinion

I did and do as I don’t get the cult of karanka either. Especially as you say how pitiful our prem season was.

Karanka once said a 1-0 defeat was a good result.

But he had more to his tactical armoury than a fkin towel.

Horrible man. Honest as a snake. The way he split the fans is unforgivable - too many were too good natured to understand the game he was playing as they back the boro through thin and thin and he knew and exploited that. For the cynics like myself the close season of his first season was where our alarm bells started ringing. His comments and signings (8M for Saville and balanced the books are two incompatible actions) began to show the road we were on. Fair play to him king of bull - honestly I was massive fan until playoff semi final and starting gestede over Bamford.

I've been going for 62 years. The first thing I will think about tomorrow is the Boro match. Pulls of his job he got rid of a lot of high paid players and had two decent finishes.
But was it worth draining the life and soul out of the club. I have never questioned what am I doing here but I did under Pulis . Woodgate was useless and his front two against Swansea begared belief, but I got more out of his time than did when Pulls was the manager.

Yep, I was done with Karanka when he did something I never thought I'd see in football - a manager sitting on a 1-0 defeat. I hope I never have to see it again either, unless we're 5-1 up on aggregate against Real Madrid in the second leg of a Champions League semi final 🤣🙈

AK had capital in the bank from his two seasons prior to the PL season disaster. I love(d) the bloke but knew it was time to go after Watford away of that season. To not properly replace him was a disgrace that will stain my view of SG forever more, but that's a different thread. Pulis will go down as my worst ever manager- above Strachan and Woodgate who were results *****, Pulis nearly killed off my interest in the sport altogether.

Fine, I just prefer to see a bit of balance. I genuinely have never seen as much hatred for any manager we’ve had as for Pulis. He had a win percentage that was currently higher than Warnock’s! He wasn’t a total disaster for me, though I agree we were right to expect promotion under him.
