Thai curry v Indian curry

A few years ago I would've said Indian hands down...but I'd probably have to say Thai.

The food in Coco & Rum in Saltburn is very very good! Still not tried their sister restaurant in Redcar - Lemon Grass

Pedant alert.....
Thai food in Thailand is sensational
Never been to India
'British' thai v British Indian - Indian usually wins it for me

Indian all the way.
But then it's mainly because I really don't like coconut milk/water and I've not had a Thai curry without it.
I like Thai food in general though, will be going to Coco and Rum next week.

Thai all day long for me. Proper Thai in Thailand takes some beating. It’s just on another level!

I really like both, but...

A Thai is what you take the Mrs out for. An Indian is what you go for with the lads after a sesh.

There are too many different dishes in both cuisines to have an A v B type contest. They both have a great selection. I would probably lean towards Indian though because of the accompaniments.

Indian.
The choice is just insane.

Last one I had was a Lamb Methi, no rice, just a keema nan, with a crumpled popadum on the top.

In order, based on my experiences here and in relevant countries:

British Indian
Indian Indian
Thai Thai
British Thai

Yes you read it right, I prefer Indian food here to Indian food there. I'm a philistine.

Agree about the accompaniments/starters too.

Never been to India so interested to know what the difference in the food is over there to the Indian restaurants over here. Is it completely different?

In India, you can go to an 'Indian restaurant' and its largely the sort of food they export overseas aimed at tourists (and similar to what we get in Britain). But if you go to a street vendor its really quite different and varies from region to region. Meat isn't very popular.

For example, you won't find onion bhajis in Delhi, or if you do, they certainly won't be called that and will have some regional name.

Interesting, cheers

The other thing you have to get your head round Block is that they handle your food quite nonchalantly in front of you and serve stuff without wearing gloves or messing around with utensils. Its just their way of life, though easy to see why people like us who aren't used to it end up with 'Delhi-belly'.

Hmmm I wouldn’t be into that like, miss Block 21 defiently wouldn’t she’s all for hygiene. I will bear it in mind if I ever go to India! I’ve got no plans too but suppose you never know

You just have to accept you might get a dose of it. It doesn't always last long. Worth it, I'd say, to experience the authentic cuisine that has influenced my favourite meals in Britain.

Still prefer a cheeky vindaloo on a Friday night in Rusholme though!

Thai is like **** IMO , i can only compare supermarket options . I’d expect restaurants to be much better ........hopefully.

I always end up with a bad belly anyway no matter which ever Indian Restaraunt/Takeaway I eat from so suppose it would be nothing new :D
