Test and trace

Isolate immediately if you have symptoms and go and get a test. How far can I drive to get a test?
If you are contacted by a tracer then you must isolate too as part of your civic duty.
Hancock is pulling at the heartstrings here, saying you've done your bit etc etc.
I might have been on board if it wasn't for the events of the past few days.
At least under 5s are eligible for testing now thanks to Dom's offspring and his impromptu public service in shaping national policy.

The slide put up by Hancock had an inconsistency. On one side, if negative continue to isolate till you feel well; on the right side, continue to isolate for 14 days. Which is it?

Not a single mention of the app in all this. Not even saying that the app will rollout to aid in the system.
Has it proven too shoddy for purpose?

I'm confused (again) also: if I'm positive I self isolate for 7 days, but if I'm just symptomatic, but not necessarily, positive it should be 14? Are we removing 7 days of incubation period from self isolation if positive? Seems counter intuitive to me. As I say, I may have misunderstood

Ah, apparently the app is too impersonal and it requires the human touch to get you to self-isolate, but the app will be used to compliment the tracers inability to trace those anonymous contacts such as fellow public transport passengers. Nothing to do with any issues with the app, honest guvnor.

I hope I'm wrong, because we really need this to work, but I just cant see people who may already have had prelonged periods of no work or income, self isolating again for 14 days because they may have had contact with someone with C19.

Also will these people be protected from being sacked??

Probably a bit unfair to rubbish the app before we have even seen it.
Why?
It has been developed under tender to a company with some dodgy links and with scant regard to privacy or security. It relies on a centralised database that has huge potential for misuses. With all these caveats regarding its suitability for its core purpose it is going to be pushed by a government that has massive trust issues with the general public.
It will not sniff the silicon on my phone.
