Test and Trace showing a little over 50%

Billions wasted by this incompetent corrupt shower whilst their Dickensian MPs withhold a small proportion of those wasted billions to feed poor kids over school holidays and an additional £5m for Manchester.

It beggars belief that public money has been squandered to satisfy an ideology that benefits so few.

It beggars belief that so many people, who will suffer with the rest of us, voted for this disgusting administration.

I think it’s more a reflection of the public than the government, you can throw endless resources at a system but it will only work if people give their details, answer the phone, scan the app, follow the rules etc. If the public are fatigued, not interested or have lost faith in the government then no system will work, just as a lockdown won’t work now either. People have decided enough is enough, you only have to go out on the street to see that.

There is 97% tracing in areas managed by local authorities. Nothing to do with the public.

You say people "have lost faith in the Government" - surely that is a reflection on the Government not the people?

Yep. It’s all the public’s fault. Let’s let the precious government off the hook.
Jesus, I’ve heard it all now.

Local public health officials have been doing this effectively for years (all be it on a smaller scale) with far fewer resources. They actually get out in the community they know and use this knowledge to properly trace people. You can throw resources at a private company with remote call handlers and set up as many apps as you like, but this will never be as effective on the ground.

If the public are fatigued it is because this has been badly handled by the government....stay at home, go to the office, eat out to help out and then stay at home if you live in the north. In the mean time the government and it's advisors laugh at the public as they openly flout the rules (Cummings, Hancock and Jenrick etc...) with no comeback.

No point in locking down if the rest of the systems aren't working.
Actually the opposite. If Track and Trace was working we wouldn't need to lock down.

Still, nice little earner for Dido and Serco whilst the public blame each other. And they can excuse letting children go hungry whilst passing contracts to their incompetent mates. It's a bad day for everyone when you find yourself on the same side as Nigel Farage...

Don’t get me wrong , Harding and Hancock et al are f...ing useless (and arrogant too), but test and tracing will not work in this country as a large percentage of our population are non compliant. It’s the same issue with all the other rules people pretend to be confused about. It’s very depressing and their behaviour is causing all these ridiculous tiers and talk of circuit breakers etc etc. Nothing will work without a vaccine or sudden change in the attitude of this section of the public.

a large percentage of our population are non compliant.
Sorry that's just a cop out for government failure. It also feeds on the persistent lie of British/English exceptionalism. Our compliance rates (if given clear rules) are no better or worse than any other country on the planet. Germany will have the same number of fukkwits that believe the virus doesn't exist or that wearing a face covering is some sort of control ploy from an authoritarian regime.

As has been stated Wales has 90%+ success rate at tracing contacts.

This is Johnson's fault with active complicity from a party which couldn't give a stuff for ordinary people once they have got your vote to carry on robbing you for another five years. Mugs.

You think these blundering uncaring CLINTS can deliver "Brexit"...

They will deliver the disaster that was required of them by their sponsors. "Taking back control"

You mugs.

On 3 June, Boris Johnson pledged that 100% of in-person tests would be turned around within 24 hours by the end of June. The latest data shows that the current figure is 15.1% - a record low.

Nothing.

To.

Do.

With.

The.

Public.

Some of the General Public are just not complying - about 25% according the Serco boss who try to contact people to tell them they have to self isolate. These could be people who never answer a call they do not recognise, because scammers and fraudsters are fairly rampant in the UK's telecom networks. Some do not want to be contacted because they can't afford to self isolate, or are caring for someone or just don't know how they will cope not leaving the house for 14 days. I know this is dangerous to others, but been contacted does not mean you have the virus, just that you are at more risk to yourself and others. There will be of course be the virus deniers and those that don't believe test results i.e. there are too many false results to give testing enough creditability. I would mistrust testing if more than 1% of the results were false.

Some of the non contacts are family members in the same household as someone who has been contacted. Why contact husband when wife has been told and they live together?

Some people are contacted several times a day and told to self isolate and they are getting annoyed, because the system is not joined up, so if you know person 1 (with CV19) and person 2 (with CV19) you are contacted twice often in the same day. Each time you have to complete a survey and if you do not you are contacted again.

Ref Newsnight last night - Local Governement deals with non complex cases on contact tracing say where a school is affected rather than individual to individual say through the App. If local government had to deal with complex cases they would struggle more. My gut feeling is that it would work better with local contact tracing, but not dramtically different. Serco net profit margin is 4% which is not high. I would say moderate.

Some of the biggest waste is the testing labs, last month the one at Newport was still closed, because of a lack of trained staff that could be recruited for that facility. So a very expensive lab has been created and has no one in it.

As said back in March its essential that excellence is built into all stages of testing and tracing or you are wasting your money. At present people are still learning, training and modifying with a genie that is well out of the bottle in this country. It sounds awful but letting the virus follow its course will probably eventually eradicate it. Protecting the most vulnerable from fatality, until a vaccine is available say in 12 months time.

I live in TS16. I spent all yesterday in Darlington. Late in the afternoon I received a message from my T&T app saying "Good news, you have not been in contact with anyone with Covid 19 in the last 15 minutes" The location was....TS16 Fk me. I was 10 miles away from TS16.
