Teesside politics

Starting to snowball - Jonathan Pie now .......

Think Houchen assumed this would be kept under wraps, a local issue......create a few jobs a few years down the line and no-one would be really ar*ed. After all, really, apart from a few people on Teesside who actually gives a chuff about Teesside ?

Oops.

He's going to need Boris de Pfeffel's resignation honours list to be announced quickly if he isn't going to miss out on his lordship!

Houchen is digging himself into an ever deeper hole, his hubris and avoidance of scrutiny has seen him become complacent.

All it took to put this into a wider national focus was his good friend Mr Turner being unable to accept that neither him nor his wife were wanted by the electorate of Longbeck.

Who'd have thought it the man who rode his coattails for so long would be responsible for what should be Houchen's political demise.

For the want of a nail........

Aside from the Houchen debacle, it is staggering the numbers that emerged from the local elections for Stockton-on-Tees. 11 Conservative gains across the Borough? Regardless of boundary changes and switching of parties for current/previous Labour councillors, it really didn't shine Stockton in a great light.

The reaction from Sophie Ridge's Twitter post despite being comical in parts was damning of the area - although those of us who live in the area know that the wards including Yarm, Eaglescliffe and Hartburn are huge Tory areas, as showed in the results and make up a large portion of the town.

Is anyone else not worried this could all come crashing down around us?
I'm not saying I approve of the tactics employed by those regenerating the area but I certainly approve of bringing good, well paid, jobs to the area.

I'm not looking for a political pile on here. I'm just genuinely worried about the stark possibility that potential big businesses could be put off by the increasing mud-slinging from both sides.

Tory Mieka smiles staying on that MDC board despite losing deputy mayor status as houchen desperate to keep control. "Important to have some continuity"

Is worrying but at least torys didn't get control of the council

And this is why the country is fcuked

I remember when Ben.T first started going on about the old steelworks site and then the freeport, saying that it was going to create over 25,000 jobs. That then went down, some time later to 18,000 jobs. Now, he's saying it will be 2.000 jobs. If it keeps going like this, he'll have to lay workers off who haven't even been employed yet.

I wonder why 'middle men' from Darlo had to he brought in, effectively to market the land to big businesses. They look to be making a killing. Even BP are spooked about potential damage to their reputation - and that is really saying something for an oil company who normally care only about profit.

Weasel Clarke has put out a deflection piece.

Houtchen has 'quite rightly leveraged the public funding' 🤡

Then says the land sold was almost worthless but will return millions over 40 years.

Typical Tory modus operandi.

Someone in Tory HQ cobbles some "facts" / figures / text together, sends out the memo then all of the good, obedient little Tories gleefully regurgitate the shyte and desperately try to pass them off as the truth.

Only this time they have been called out, and their lack of action against Private Eye and their perceived libelous? (😁😁) story speaks volumes about not having a leg to stand on.

Oh dear. Bet they are desperately hoping a bigger scandal drops to overshadow this......but now too many interested parties are on the case.

He blocked me for asking that 😂
