Teesside Gig Guide

Following on from the thread the other day about finding out about local gigs I've created a very basic web site to list local gigs.

I may try & tart it up a bit in due course but for now I just wanted to get it on line. I've added all the gigs I could find from the main local venues for August & September so far.

There will be more I don't know about I'm sure, there's an email address on the site and messages can be left via the Comment box at the base of each page to inform me of any new gigs.

Not sure how effective it will be but if anyone wants to bookmark/follow/share it then that would be great.

£120 just spent. ( filthy tongues, smoove and Turrell , pigeon detectives) . Bookmarked site and will share with friends.
It’s a great start and I will have a good look through them later to see if there is anything else I fancy.

I'll be putting October etc lists on line next week hopefully.

Thanks for doing this Dave, and good luck with it - a bit of a thankless task!
If you need things sending through in a particular format then please just shout - thanks very much for including our shows.

On my Favourites Bar where I can see it. Thanks very much for this.
Its a work in progress - doing October now - I'm surprised at how many free covers bands shows there are - I'm torn as to whether they should be included, also major tribute shows, eg Whitney Houston at The Town Hall - there's loads of them...............

Well done fella. Something the surrounding area has been needing for sometime. What will be your radius as Stockton and Darlo have a few venues as well. It is always a pain hunting individual pubs and clubs for a what's on list. Will this be off the FMTTM site as well for the general public to see.

Hopefully The Waiting Room be included. They get some good shows on and have Eaglefest coming up but not until November. Eaglescliffe not The Eagles. They have nothing on until then as its a very small venue.

Well at the moment I'm just trawling around the established venues/promoters in the Stockton/Middlesbrough area - I'm sort of thinking anywhere with a Teesside post code qualifies but I don't think I can search everywhere looking for gigs, I need venues/promoters to be emailing me details to be honest. Which is partly why I started from August 1st to give me some breathing space. I'm building Octobers page now and even in that relatively small area I'm looking at there's absolutely loads of stuff on.

I've seen loads of pubs/workies with free gigs/covers bands shows and to be honest I've not prioritised them as there's so many of them and I'd rather highlight the paid for gigs first.

The web site is obviously live to anyone now, I shared it around a load of Facebook gig/live music groups yesterday and if people can share it then that would be great. I don't know if @rob_fmttm would be able to incorporate into here somehow as a sticky post or some other way.

I'm very happy for people to send me messages through here with details of shows or comments on the site or use the site email or comment boards.

I'd forgotten about that - yes I'll add gigs in from there.

I'm sure there will be others I've forgotten and I'll think how the hell did I miss that when I realise but its a work in progress, I've already had to go back and add a few more in for Aug & Sep that I'd missed yesterday, I'm sure there will be more.

Dates added for October now.

Saw that The Waterboys are playing The Globe in October and thought I would go but saw the price-£44 which is very steep

Yes but factor in how much you would pay to get to gig if there was no Stockton show and you had to travel to Newcastle, Leeds or Manchester. Paid about £65 when Costello played Sunderland just before lockdown. These seem to be going rates I'm afraid. Keep your £44 if you think its too high and book to see The Men They Couldn't Hang at The Westgarth for about half that. I know where you will have the better night.

EDIT Costello was worth every penny
