Ted lasso

See we watch it as it’s an easy watch, don’t need to concentrate much but I didn’t really enjoy the beard episode. I kept expecting parts of it to be a dream or fantasy as they were so far fetched. I know most of the premise is far fetched, I just found most of the episode quite jarring.
it was definitely out of synch with the majority of the rest of the episodes, but I loved it and understand why others might not

I watched the first three or four episodes and realised I wasn't really enjoying it. So I stopped. I thought that was the end of the matter, but after reading this thread I now realise that rather than having a personal opinion, I'm a helpless smoothbrain who "didn't get it".

Some things you get others you dont. Thats just the way it is. For example I never saw the fuss with Game of Thrones but others loved it.

Cobra Kai is a million times better than Ted Lasso.

I watched the first series up until the last episode, for some reason I’m just not bothered about finishing it. Probably will eventually.

Love Cobra Kai, is it really a comedy though? Not how I'd categorise it. It has comedy elements, lots of tongue in cheek stuff but it's primarily a drama surely?

It was recognised as a comedy by the Emmys. It definitely has it's serious moments, but then, you could say Ted Lasso does as well just maybe a bit more subtle.

Yeah sorry, wasn't really querying you calling it a comedy. More surprised that it fell into that category at the Emmys. A comedy for me is something that's played for laughs throughout, I'd say the humour in Cobra Kai complements the story, but it isnt what the series is about.

Glad it's not just me then.

I'd probably have enjoyed it more if I hadn't started watching it solely because it was getting critical acclaim and awards and expected it to be far better and deeper than it actually was.
I only watch stuff critically acclaimed on here! More reliable than award ceremonies.

Anyone who has any doubts about it watch this weeks episode about the demise of Rebeccas father. It has everything humour to sadness and all stops inbetween. A totally brilliant episode.

And to those who think otherwise its not just about football and never was.

Agree. It's actually barely about football really, could substitute any sport and it would work just as well because it's about humanity and relationships. And it's brilliant.

I had to stop watching because it was so cringeworthy.

The captain has to be the worst actor ever - growling is all he does. im pretty sure he is a yank. the lass who is his girlfriend is just as bad.

honestly, I think maybe i only kept watching on the off-chance of getting a look at the splendiferous dids on the the milf who is the chairman. by the way - if anybody knows a film where we do get a glimpse of those beauties then I would very much appreciate a link.

I take it you mean Roy Kent played by..................
Brett Goldstein is an English actor, comedian, and writer. He is best known for writing and starring in the Apple TV+ sports comedy series Ted Lasso (2020–present), for which he received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

"honestly, I think maybe i only kept watching on the off-chance of getting a look at the splendiferous dids on the the milf who is the chairman" thats a pretty sad reason to keep watching. I'm sure you can satisfy your curiousity for "splendiferous dids" elsewhere on the internet. (y)

He's not American, he's British. He's just won an Emmy for the role so perhaps you are not the best judge huh?

Just watched most of the first series in a couple of days, got the last episode of series 1 to watch and I can sum it up in a couple of words...

F**king brilliant.

Best series I've seen in a long time and have felt all range of emotions watching it. Great stuff.
Yep not just a comedy. Has some heartfelt messages within and as you say it is excellent writing. Enjoy series 2

I loved it, but I think it really took off worldwide during the pandemic, when people were literally scrambling for ANYTHING with a feelgood factor! I started watching it just after me dad died and I needed cheering up. And it worked. Oh yes, OK, Hannah Waddingham was a pleasing distraction for a man of a certain age like myself too! ;)

I understand all the haters too though. It's deffo made primarily for a USA /Worldwide market, so it's more about a warm feel gentle comedy than the football. So most of the humour and atmosphere is very.... "Four Weddings" style. Could have been written and directed by Richard Curtis actually.

It's a gentle distraction. But little else. As I say though, I really did enjoy it. Loved the 'Coach Beard' character.
