Team vs Luton

Think there is a couple who may of played themselves out of the starting line up tonight in my opinion.

I would go with

Pears

Howson
Moukoudi
Fry

Spence
Wing
Saville
Tav
Coulson

Morrison

Fletcher

McNair could do with a game on the bench, he was shocking tonight, I have no words to describe how bad Britt was, i know he needs a run of games to get back up to speed but he didn’t look the slightest bit interested to me and that’s ***ed me off, bench for him. We need to play Coulson and Spence as wing backs. It’s a must.

I said this earlier

If we start on sat with out coulson and Spence again then you have to wonder what is really going on.

........Fletcher.... Assombalonga

I think Pears was poor last night, and the game before, but he's done more than enough to earn a grace period.

Wing wasn't good last night, but you can't drop a player who's scored twice.

Assombalonga was terrible, but I think it's partly down to lacking match sharpness and we need to get him off the books in the summer and it'll be easier if he plays and scores.

McNair was so poor and deserves to be dropped, I'm hoping it's a hangover from swapping positions again but it wasn't good.

So, only 1 change and it's back to wing backs.
I'd probably try Shotton for Fry if I didn't think people would lambast Woodgate for making too many changes.
We desperately need a win against Luton.

Only player who is playing consistently as a 7/10 for me at the moment is Saville, he deserves his place in the team for the for the foreseeable , it’s the others around him who need to step up. I love how Wing gets us goals and some great ones too, but he really does need to work on his game off the ball and sharpen up on his touch. I would still stick with him though as he’s got that right foot on him and McNair as has been said, was F***ing dreadful.

Howson.Moukoudi. Fry. Friend
...........McNair.....Saville.......
Morrison........Wing........Johnson
............Fletcher.....Britt...........

Wing getting in purely because he scores goals, not because of his general ability right now

 Thats what happens when you copy and paste and edit in a hurry :D

Remove Britt..... please

I feel slightly bad about that team as I have been banging on for years about adding pace, and there I am removing it for this one game. I feel I must have come down with a case of Pulisitis, I am on my way to A&E as I type

Must say I’m quite surprised at your preferred line up for this game but suppose it could work and Johnson has done well of late, but for me it’s imperative we try and get Coulson and Spence back in wing backs think it will be to much for Luton.

To be honest, whatever line up we put out should be beating Luton.

and I’m glad it’s that useless donkey you removed :D

I surprised myself I went that way too :D

It was because I think Luton are a team that likes to put a lot into getting in the final third quickly and use width and I wanted to stay solid. I felt Coulson has been defensively wanting the last few games he has played despite his pace and ability getting forward. I just thought wing backs in this system might leave gaps for Luton to exploit and the game would otherwise be too open.
Attacking football has to be managed to a degree (imho) and if we allow a game to be to open, it can come back to bite. We allowed the 10 men of Wigan to make it far too open a game in the final 20 mins, I thought we pushed far too many men forward leaving too many gaps at times. Moukoudi himself at one point pushed forward passed and ran on into a right wing slot when we were 1-2 (i think). I wanted us to press forward for a 3rd, but I thought poor game management cost us a win last night.

The management of the game was shocking mate, we look dead flaky. Even we go ahead you never feel comfortable , we need some real steel in the side, we’re absolutely missing a Grant Leadbitter type, I feel we need a leader in this team.

Agree, we do lack real leaders. A leadbitter or Nigel Pearson type character is needed (y)

I’m trying to think of someone of that ilk who may be available, not someone who’s necessarily the best player in the world but someone who will organise us. Any suggestions?

When we signed Danny Batth, I thought he was going to take over from Leadbitter as our leader, captain and experienced pro, especially after what he did at Wolves the season before leading them to promotion.

However it didn't happen.

We definitely need someone to help the younger lads.

Howson is the only one on the pitch who I can think of who has that experience.

Friend & Ayala being the other two but they're injured more than anything.

If we lose Ayala, someone like Sean Morrison of Cardiff, he appears a leader, but I doubt we could afford him, or that he’d come anyway

Probably a silly suggestion cos if his age but I think if not Morrison maybe someone like Jagielka would be alright, I don’t think he’s got any intention of retiring even though he’s 37 and he wouldn’t have to play every game but feel like he would have a good mentality and be a good person in and around the club. Think he’s out of contract at end of season at Sheff U aswell, I would only offer him a years contract like, would prefer Morrison before him though, he’s a good player.
