Lets not put round pegs in square holes, Howson is a midfielder. McNair would like to be a midfielder but isn't very good at it, he's a RWB or CB.

Dijksteel.........................Johnson
....Howson....Morsy....Tav

Subs:- Dejan, Spence, Wood, Coulson, Saville, Wing, Browne

I'm pretty sure it will be this...

I'd like to see Coulson for Johnson though.

I wouldn’t be moving Dijksteel out of that back 3 yet. He’s been a monster

Coulson has talent, but I'm not sure he is suited to that wing back role, he definitely can't play LB and he isn't mature with his final ball to play winger yet. For me he needs 6 months on loan in League One or Two playing regularly.

We really, really need a LB though, the option of 4-3-3 isn't on the cards right now.

Does Saville deserve to lose his place ?

I am a Saville fan but think he hasn’t done enough to justify retaining it, may be harsh to drop him but I like the look of a midfield 3 of a Howson, Morsy and McNair. I think It will either be the team I have suggested or the team Rico suggested with Saville in

Howson offers us very little in midfield - at least McNair offers us something in an attacking sense. I don't know why but for some reason Howson has always performed better for us playing either RB or CB.

I would play them both in midfield. Howson was class against Watford and was better than Saville against Bournemouth. I would have Browne and Tav as attacking midfield options from the bench

Can't agree with that, he has a better range of passing and better ball retention than McNair, he is also much more aware of what is around him, McNair isn't a "360" player, he plays better knowing what is in front of him and not having pressure from behind him. That's why he is better suited in a defensive role. His best career performances have probably been at RWB, he swings a great ball in from out wide.

Yup, guess it depends where Warnock wants to play Mcnair for this game...

He's been used more as a defensive midfieler since Warnock took over but we don't need him for that role now that we have Morsy. He doesn't offer enough for me as a box-to-box midfielder. Having better ball retention is fine but for me you need someone who drives forward with or without the ball, and who you feel will chip in with goals. Think back to his goal vs Millwall last season, how many times can you remember Howson doing the same during his time here?

So Dijksteele has been outstanding on the right of the 3 and McNair has looked very good on the left.. you want to change everything? Makes sense..
