Team against Czech

He is out of form and has been for some time.

Same with Rashford.

Him and Sterling are good players there is no doubt about that BUT their current form is out of sorts. For that reason alone both players should not be playing.

I agree completely, but it's the unbalanced rubbish about them being terrible footballers which I object to.
Like Sterling would have been picked hundreds of times by a ruthless and exacting manager like Guardiola if he had nothing to offer except pace. 🙄

For England he has nothing to offer.
He is a very poor finisher, has really poor first touch and panics under pressure. His decision making is poor.
I doubt he will play for City and he will be a flop wherever else he goes.

So riddle me this-how if he's such a terrible player has he scored over 150 goals in all competitions at literally the highest level a player can play at and from midfield? Has he got a magic wand?

I wouldn't play Kane, get DCL in or Rashford as CF. Grealish is a must and dropping Philips too. I think James at RB isn't the right choice, and we shouldn't forget about Saka and Sancho who have been superb this year.

spot on, he's going through a confidence issue and making some poor decisions on the field because he is desperate to get back to where he was. He isn't poor, and could easily turn it around and be a match winner. Personally I'd bench him and bring him on for the last 20 to get his confidence against a tired defence.

He hasn't scored them from midfield, have you not been watching?
He is not good enough to play in this England team and he will continue to let us down in important matches.

Flip me, he is literally an attacking midfielder. He scored the winner in our last match, which was undoubtedly important and lastly and most importantly you have again conveniently not answered the question I keep asking you. What possible argument can you make to back up your claim that he has absolutely nothing to his game other than the ability to “run fast”?

See post 40.
His close control is awful. He can't make simple passes when under any pressure. His decision making about when to release, and who to, and when to go it alone is so often wrong. His shooting/finishing is poor and his speed is what gets him results. As for his finishing; his pace and the quality of players he has around him creates chances, but his conversion rate is poor because his finishing technique is poor.
We disagree.
Most importantly it would appear Southgate is his number one fan boy. Not much chance of him waking up.

He has undoubted talents and probably always worth having on the pitch but I think this sums up why people get so frustrated with him.

(excuse the language)

Regarding Sterling, we don't play to his strengths and neither have City this season hence his drop off in form. His style of play does not suit slow build ups, he was majestic in the city team with Daivd Silva because they would be slow slow and Silva would find a little round the corner pass that put sterling on the foot front bombing forward, we don't do that, we pass for passing sake and then blame sterling when it all breaks down. Rather than pass, pass explode, whixj is frustrating as both Grealish amd Foden are excellent at this, but alas we'll stick with both rice and Phillips or Henderson who are masters at picking the ball up off the centre half and giving it to the other centre half.

I disagree. I think Sterling is being accommodated by Southgate to the detriment of better players, who would combine better with Kane.
Dropping Kane because he can't play with Sterling would be crazy.
Kane has 37 PL goals and assists this season playing with Son who has 27, both are in the top 4, with Kane top by 7.
We are not getting the best out of Kane who is our only viable striker in this squad and an excellent one at that.
(Bamford should have been his deputy)

Re City not playing to Sterling's strengths, they have just won the league, the league cup and lost the CL final to Chelsea because they played the brainless one.
That clip above sums up Sterling and is why most people will have been yelling at their screens at him.

Just out of interest who would make Kane a better player???

1986:
England 0-1 Portugal
England 0-0 Morrocco

Press berating Robson as useless, tactically inept, can't get the best out of his world class players, why does he persist with Lineker.....

England 3-0 Poland Lineker hattrick and on the way to the golden boot
