TDF 2024 Route

I remember the last day time trial when Greg Lemond was a few seconds quicker than Laurent Fignon. What a finish, that got me on my bike, and never really stopped.
Lets hope for another close finish.

I don't think so, he's not the only sprinter to say that even though there are 8 'flat' stages there are very few definitive sprint stages among them. If he's going to break the record (I personally don't really care), then he'll have to win early.

That's when I went from casual cycling fan to rabid.

I don't think there are more than 6 proper sprinter stages and some of them may be wind affected (echelons). A load of sprinters will drop out, as there's no last day hoorah for them. Looks a tough route with a bit of everything. It's designed to give Remco a chance of duking it out with the big 3 I think. All stage previews are on youtube now and there's a decent overview on the GCN youtube.

Apparently the finish has never been outside Paris. Interesting route, barely touches the Alps but does the mountains in the Massif Central and Provence. All a fair way away to watch this year. Troyes loop could be an option, a few hours from Calais on the toll roads. Good year for watching sport in that part of the world this summer mind, what with the Olympics and Euros in Germany too....

Whilst I like the fact that this one off Tour has no procession for the leader on stage 21 I would rather it had been a road stage. First 3 stages are brutish and can’t see Cav anywhere near winning them. His first opportunity is Stage 6 by when he has had to face a tough first 5 stages.
