Tav's first PL goal!

I noticed he had netted for them earlier, today .. though I thought he had scored a PL goal before that, did not know it was his first for them in the league. Assists too, not a bad day for him though he ended up on the losing side. I hear mixed thoughts on him from their fans but he clearly has the ability at that level and Christ, we have missed him far more than folk anticipated I think ..

Good to see he's doing OK, hopefully, his career turns out well at that level for some time .. though I do not think Bournemouth will stay up this season.

He' s doing well for Bournemouth. Fair play to him

But we so miss his energy. A massive loss to Boro and we've totally spunked the money.
Should've kept him if we could

Remember when people were telling us we got a good deal?

They had put pants down
Reminder;
Tavernier told us HE WANTED TO LEAVE.
So, 2 weeks before the season starts and our best player wants to go. If we’d said no then you have a big player here who wants to be elsewhere; no good for the team spirit remember!!
We had no choice but to get what we could for him….

In terms of now, because he wanted to leave the club I love and create his ‘magic’ elsewhere, good luck but also good riddance for me. I want to focus on the players who do want to play for us and wouldn’t it be ironic if MC really gets this going and we cross divisions with Mr Tavernier in June this year ?

Funny ole game football ; and if he wanted to come back I’d be delighted; no hard feelings but similarly no soft spot given he’s left us….

Can’t blame him for wanting to leave and play in the top flight. Lots of people said about one more season and him being part of our promotion push and being in the Premier League with us. Well, that’s not happening! With reflection on Wilder it’s likely he knew what was happening here and took his chance.

He departed on good terms with most fans.

I have no problem with him wanting to leave, fine.

But he should only have been allowed to leave when an acceptable offer came in.

£10m plus £2m add ons was cheap.

£15m was the minimum I’d have accepted, a few days before the season started should have pushed that to £20m

I think it’s the complexity of that situation in practical terms is the main reason why we didn’t get more.
Think about it, 1, wilders desperate to get signings over the line with less than 2 weeks before kick off and his best player is wanting to go, so, trying to attract players here while we could’ve been negotiating our best player out the door, not a good look and 2, think about preparing the squad for the 1st game with our best player hanging around the squad if we’re holding out for more money that might not materialise and then wilders left with someone who’s been disruptive and wilder would’ve had to integrate him back into a team that he didn’t want to be with.

Hence practical decisions have to be made for the greater good of the squad, preparations and not having distractions as we try to attract new players here….
Complex situation….

I think its pretty certain we will be getting the add ons at the end of this season.

Tav made it clear he wanted Premier League football and he only had 11 months left on his contract.

Sorry to see him to go, you never know one day might see him back.

He'll be back at the Riverside next season.
Then he’s lost nothing. In fact he’s still gained because he’s had a more lucrative contract and he will be at a club that has more chance it being promoted.

Even in Bournemouth go down (which isn’t guaranteed as you seem to think) then another Prem team might come in for him.

He is doing very well. Pleased for the lad. Though by God, we didn't half miss him and still recovering from not replacing the gap he left adequately ..

Understand it was complicated though in the Summer window for us, with Wilder being a doyle and whatnot, I am hoping the dilly-dallying in the market was just down to us not wanting to give him the funds as we did not see our future with him.

I am looking forward to seeing who Carrick will be able to attract when the next window opens up for us.
