Reminder;Remember when people were telling us we got a good deal?
They had put pants down
I have no problem with him wanting to leave, fine.Reminder;
Tavernier told us HE WANTED TO LEAVE.
So, 2 weeks before the season starts and our best player wants to go. If we’d said no then you have a big player here who wants to be elsewhere; no good for the team spirit remember!!
We had no choice but to get what we could for him….
In terms of now, because he wanted to leave the club I love and create his ‘magic’ elsewhere, good luck but also good riddance for me. I want to focus on the players who do want to play for us and wouldn’t it be ironic if MC really gets this going and we cross divisions with Mr Tavernier in June this year ?
Funny ole game football ; and if he wanted to come back I’d be delighted; no hard feelings but similarly no soft spot given he’s left us….
I think it’s the complexity of that situation in practical terms is the main reason why we didn’t get more.I have no problem with him wanting to leave, fine.
But he should only have been allowed to leave when an acceptable offer came in.
£10m plus £2m add ons was cheap.
£15m was the minimum I’d have accepted, a few days before the season started should have pushed that to £20m
He'll regret not staying at the boroScored again
Then he’s lost nothing. In fact he’s still gained because he’s had a more lucrative contract and he will be at a club that has more chance it being promoted.He'll be back at the Riverside next season.
