Tav

He saved a goal by tracking his man back in the first ten. He made the freekick that we scored from with a lovely flick. I don't think his decision making is poor, I think his crossing and shooting need work. Still the first name on the teamshert for me.

Decision making is his problem, he seems to be blinkered when he gets into the final third, needs to get his head up and realise there may be better options; like Payero did on Saturday for Coburns goal.

Oh, and the fact that he can’t use his right foot is a bit of a problem too…. Seems to lose the ball when trying to shift it onto his left.

Tav needs a run of 5-6 games in a row playing in central midfield. How many times during his Boro career has he had that? I remember him having a run of games in central midfield under Woodgate and he was excellent.

I do agree that he needs to work on his finishing and decision making. There was a moment vs Peterborough where he cut inside from the right and Sporar was pointing to where he wanted the ball to be played, but Tav decided to take the shot on instead, when he had no right to and it was easily blocked by their player.

I think we do also have to remember that he is still young though. He's a bit of a rough diamond at the moment but if he's used correctly I think there's potential for him to develop into a Premier League player.

thought he was very wasteful last night, hes a good player though and deserves his place in the team, his shoot on sight is poor when others are better placed than him, least of our problems tho

I still say he's our most important player, offensively at least - he drives us on and is brilliant at carrying the ball from midfield and getting into and around the box.

Playing wide doesn't get the best out of him, either as a winger or a wing-back and I think he's a bit frustrated at the minute and maybe trying a little too hard, but his form will come.

Winning brings confidence, Tav is naturally a moaner, ( NW comment ) but should play with a smile on his face a bit more.
All the best players have attitude , but it has to be a positive one, which rubs off on the rest.
He needs to believe in himself, concentrate on final decision making, and work hard.
I really like Tav, and hope he can become more like Lingard .
It's I need his hands, Jarrod Bowen is another example, work rate gets him there.

This the Watford fan who focuses purely on stats?

Attacking midfielder with only 1 goal and 1 assists in 11 games is the most important stat in that graphic, and it's hidden away.

I rate Tav, but he's not in the side for his defensive tackles or dribbles that lead to nothing.

Hard to see how you can blame any of Tavernier's wayward shots on management, unless he's being encouraged to sky shots in training.

We are a much better team with him in the line up, best position? deffo number 10 role, but Payero has been bought for that so RH midfield running in is the best for me, Wing Back? wasted , Form this season has dipped, especially shooting, his radar needs an upgrade.....

sorry but tackles can lead to 1 less goal conceded surely that has benefit to the team. Dribbles can win fouls and as pointed out above we have more big chances created from dead balls than any team in the country.

Obviously.

But he's in the side as an attacking player, his deliveries and shots are terrible right now and I don't think it's because he's in "a very badly coached Warnock side" that he's hitting shots out of the stadium.

He's apparently in the very top percentile for expected goals in the Championship from that graphic, he has 1.

He'd be in every starting 11 for me, but he is an immensely frustrating player at times.

But he's in the side as an attacking player,
He should be as an 8, but that isn't really happening. He's being employed largely as a wing back and a right sided one at that. So defensive work is clearly a major part of that role. We are sacrificing his attacking work by getting him to run up and down the line defending.
