Tav to Bournemouth confirmed

Shame.

I fully understand why he would want to go, but whoever is in charge of negotiating the fee for our club wants sacking.

I disagree, I think it's very good money for a player that has limited time on his contract, doesn't want to be here and to be honest, has flattered to deceive for large spells of his time here.

Harry Wilson cost Fulham the same amount (or potentially less with the add ons) and he's 10 times the player Tavernier is.

He had 2 years left on his deal, he was an important player to us, it was the eve of the season, we'll have little time to replace him and everyone now knows we have £10m and are desperate to replace him.

When you consider Bristol City got £20m for Adam Webster, how have we ended up with only £2m more for both Spence AND Tavernier

I don’t get this assertion that they’ve had our pants down. I think £12 million odd is a good fee, and was clearly all anybody was willing to pay. He is a good player but he’s really not as good as some of our fans make out. Fans always think they should get more money for their own players, but reality is they are only worth what someone is willing to pay, not fan fantasy football figures.
That said, best of luck to the lad, he always gave his all, never hid when he was having an off game, and I hope he goes on to do well.

Aren't you only supposed to get the deckchairs out at the end of the season once there's nothing left to play for?

In reality it's £10m, we don't know what the add-ons are. We may never get them.

We weren't looking to sell so it's irrelevant what people are willing to pay, if Bournemouth weren't willing to pay more tell them to go away and come back with a better offer.

But we just accepted he was going and in the space of a few days we accepted the offer.

My comment was on your line about the fee being too small.

He's worth what a buying club is willing to pay for him, I didn't see anybody coming in with bids of £20m. Keeping him for another year, and us not getting promoted this year, would see him value drop significantly lower than £12m.

As long as he's replaced, which with the money we have I believe we can replace him with someone equally as good if not better, then we move on. Good luck at Bournemouth but my interest in him ends there really. He doesn't want to be a Boro player so f**k him.
